    This probably won't hurt much, DS has been out since last Oct and now half a year gone, DS still make 21m opening

    Good, because they need to start reminding people this is coming to May 28 because all the previous marketing effort have mostly go down in drain. Releasing the trailers in front of box office giant certainly will help and we don't have much of these kind of blockbuster in the next few weeks.

    If you went to theater this past weekend , did u all see AQP2's trailer playing? just want to check if they have restarted their advertisement for next month opening

    That is because the 3.8m skewed the result. if you compare it to MK, DS actually grew from true Friday but have much softer drop than MK on sunday. DS is still possible to reach 45m even it start to free-falling now, meaning DS isn't really that far off from T&J and Raya.

    just realised unholy have been holding good especially for a horror film, at this rate unholy can challenge 20m?

    Agreed. the movie is not a unbearable trash. I am still entertained by that 2 hours in the movie

    DS just need 501k to hit 20m opening, that means anything less than 37% drop would close that gap

    Why not AQP2? May not be 3 days 100m but 4 days Memorial weekend?

    DS surprisingly strong, record-breaking, cinema-saviour type off box office run will sure boost Funanimation profile in Hollywood. Maybe DS can get back some IMAX showtime in the later run?

    Ya this is another good surprise this week with everybody win situation. I guess the go back to cinema momentum is building and the world of mouth about the experience is spreading to the general public.

    Everything related to Asian did great this week, probably Shang-chi help

    Erm...I think it is possible to see all 3 films re-release combined but still fail to top Avatar's re-release gross

    If they can have this kind of event few more rounds, DS may take over Soul as highest grossing film of the year

    This weekend is an Asian week where both MK and DS heavily feature Asian element and cast

    But remember this opening weekend isn't a complete opening without Canada. If situation improve, Canada may allow theater reopening in full swing late-May or June, that could provide an one-off big gain in DS later run, should 2x isn't a pipe dream at all.

    so domestic box office is now able to accommodate a 30m opener like GvK and MK+DS. AQP2 will challenge 50m mark .

    Maybe it is time to unleash RT law, MK did 54% on RT after 103 reviews.

    I doubt so, even a non-fan driven film like Nobody only managed to +1.2% in first sat, I doubt DS can jump from Friday, especially when that number is already that big.

    To be fair , they did get a important number, 7k PWPs across the weekend

    Any chance that we can get BOM to fix their DS number? the site not only underestimate their Japanese gross, they also ignore few notable market like Taiwan. And worst of all, I still seeing media quoting BOM's number for DS. I am scared if this will steal away DS' moment as the highest grossing film in 2020.

    WW84 and T&J start showing some legs starting week 4, but since GvK has to face MK+DS combo in this week, I think we can only see GvK stabilize week 5 onwards. Until then, the hold certainly look meh.

    It is been meh the hold, and every WB movies , no matter how much they open, sub-10m or above 10m, have consistently holding worse than other comparable movies.
