  1. Ok. This movie it's just epic. I agree with people comparing it to Lord of the rings. Of course is a different style but it gives you that kind of epic thrill and you want to see more and more of it. For what i feel the audience was really captured, in a lot of scene it's like everyone was holding their breath and you could literally feel the tension. I watched it with my 19 years old sister and she loved it too. I have read a lot of positivetweets fromkids or young audience. I just read one of the most famous italian marvel fan account on twitter (almost 5K followers) and she wrote to watch the movie cause it's an absolute masterpiece and one of the best movie in years
  2. Yes cause you have to put a new movie every week so people will pay you every month 12 dollars and well if you put cruella on Disney plus after 2 months it has a diffent value than when it's 1 year or more old. With 100M of subscribers you make 14.400.000.000 dollars every year, with 200 M of subscribers yoy make 28.800.000.000 dollars every year. This is really a huge revolution. Infact Netflix makes 200M budget movies you could find on theater, years ago a tv movie was just a tv movie.
  3. Cruella made 222 M on 100M budget plus marketing. Even if you adds Disney plus you can't say it really made some money. And i mean a sequel of a disney live action is easily to think it's not gonna grow from the first chapter (maleficient 2, alice 2). I think this is the decade when we have to change the idea of what a successfull movie is. Now studios will put their movie on their personal streaming services after only like 30-45-60 days, so everything is changing. They want and they need always new fresh material for those services so there are more factors on the game. An that's particulary true with sequels. Do you know the flop series from traditional tv series netflix has saved so many times cause they already have an audience of some kind.. Well
  4. This is where I'm going in two hours. In order same showing at 9 PM tonight, friday, saturday and sunday. The last is from the 02.15 PM showing on Sunday. At the same hour today they sold 80 tickets, on Sunday already 300+. So whatever is the total today in Italy Sunday should be bigger I guess.
  5. Numbers are numbers. 8.7/10 on imbd with almost 5K votes is really really a solid start. And for what I remember is around what Joker got for its first 15-20K votes. Anyway Marvel stans are coming so probably we'll see a 7.6/10 before tonight 😁
  6. I read the same "casual audience won't love this movie and get bored" for BD 2049 when it started at around 8.3-8.4 (with the same votes) on imdb. Now with 500K votes still has a 8.0/10.
  7. Isn't this a new franchise- universe?. Isn't too early to talk about legs?. In my theater saturday pre sales are bigger than the OD. Joker here was really awaited by DC fans so it made 1M euros in the first day (a big debut here with definitely big pre sales numbers). Then it was also bigger after that and it made 30M in total. Infinity war made 3 M in the first day and then 18M in total. How we can know?. This is something new, everything can happen.
  8. we're going from this gonna flop to disappointed even with good numbers. 😄 It was frontloaded in the day of previews, the people maybe split in two days. This still doesn't mean it can't have good days in the weekend. The audience should be different from movies like fast and furious, which made almost half of the total on the first day. Plus i guess word of mouth should be impactful. Let'see.
  9. Reactions by french people on twitter are like for the 90% very positive but ... they're french 😄
  10. also 8.7/10 on imdb even with just 1,7K votes is a very solid start. because I don't think this has the kind of "i'm a fan so the movie is perfect" reactions from the first day audience of movies like 50 shades, harry potter etc.. Indeed they can be very demanding
  11. In the post before I mean 50-75M OS. The WW total like 150-175 I guess and cause it's christmas. They really wanted to release it on Christmas. Every movie has changed its release going from summer to the fall, from the fall to the spring. This went from christmas to christmas 😄
  12. no 😄. On christmas it will make 50-75M, even 100 if it makes more than good in countries where musical are strong like Uk, Japan, South Korea.
  13. Actually Marvel made the first series connected to the movie universe (agents of the shield) back in 2013. The boom of the streaming market is more recent, so it's disney plus. They had Abc but you can't put 7-8 marvel series every year on abc. Same reason star wars needed 40 years for a live action series.
  14. It started with a 8.7/10 on imdb and 4.0 on letterboxd and people are still here saying people won't love the movie and a 1.5M opening day in france it's because of the popularity of a sci fi nerd book written in english 60 years ago 😅 (according to this idea every pride and prejudice movie should sell 4 m tickets in one day). For you to know, probably the 80% of kids and under 30 outside the United Kingdom never heard about the lord of the rings before 2001. ps: nicole kidman doesn't sell a movie since like the 1998 😇
  15. so in france the prediction is now 150.000 tickets in the first day. So it should be something around 1.3-1.4M counting Imax and the previews with an overprice.
  16. Best first day in Paris in the pandemic era is coming in Paris. And BY FAR. 4500 tickets sold at 2 pm in 32 copies. 5-6M for the weekend? Or even more?
  17. yeah the old generations, I know. Knowing spielberg this will have like an 80M budget so maybe it needs some target more. West side story can be the musical of the musicals like Casabalanca is the romance of the romances but this doesn't mean people want to see the remake of casablanca.
  18. In paris but Shang Chi didn't have the previews. Dune sold 813 tickets in the previews last night
