  1. 2's script was, despite some nice tricks, pretty straightforward; can't imagine anyone being wowed by it (script the only thing that existed in 2014, "mouth open" quote date); I still have hope that one of the avatar sequels (probably 4) will end up having an all-timer of a script for a blockbuster
  2. loved it (was my #1 movie of 2022 after all), but I didn't really feel the need to "s**t with my mouth open", and outside of the technical aspects it didn't feel particularly revolutionary
  3. i wouldn't know what to say at that point imagine where they'd be if doctor strange 2 was well received
  4. mario might be an animated movie, but does it have animated movie demos? that's where the legs come from
  5. that consistent with what you said in the morning about 450?
  6. did you know people are now calling you key? I used to think your username was keyser-zone (misspelled version of geyser-zone); just remembered the usual suspects was a thing
  7. then that makes the next question somewhat easy, would the rest of the markets have made up the difference between dom-int?
  8. apart from those that always do 5-days (france and Korea), did the rest of the world also have 5-days?
  9. would have agreed with you if not for the missing markets, feel like those pretty much "lock" a billion
  10. they rallied and mobilized the troops (of nintendrones), plus kids are always going to watch the latest illumination movie, especially if it has a character they know
  11. 2022 Annual Stats 4,700 $81,428,329 $22,469,748,328 Avatar: The Way of Water 2021 Annual Stats 3,454 $60,726,877 $19,453,600,691 Spider-Man: No Way Home 2020 Annual Stats 3,479 $39,122,249 $8,791,267,730 Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Ressha-Hen 2019 Annual Stats 4,300 $47,091,570 $38,863,142,635 Avengers: Endgame 2018 Annual Stats 4,118 $38,201,463 $38,357,632,905 Avengers: Infinity War 2017 Annual Stats 3,754 $43,887,772 $37,966,448,091 Star Wars Ep. VIII: The Last Jedi 2016 Annual Stats 3,552 $36,672,345 $37,072,360,141 Captain America: Civil War 2015 Annual Stats 3,018 $26,150,854 $36,127,195,448 Star Wars Ep. VII: The Force Awakens 2014 Annual Stats 1,559 $30,427,653 $30,049,359,443 Transformers: Age of Extinction context, I'm sure you could find some people whod be willing to argue NWH and last jedi are worse
  12. surely you have to find a way to fit dead reckoning in there, 6 pretty much adjusts to a billion, and top gun can good-will could maybe add 200 million on top of it (which will probably be enough) nowhere near a lock, but maybe 10%
  13. how many imaxes will suzume get next weekend? doubt any any theater owner would like to part with Mario, but who knows what the contract says
  14. Despicable me 2 did 32% of its 5-day on weekend 2, so 70 seems reasonable
  15. from my point of view, one of the main things that ended up making Mario a (financial) success, was the fact that Nintendo was fully on board, Detective Pikachu, outside of the IP, never really made an attempt to court Nintendo fans; by making Nintendo directs focused solely on the movie, they told Nintendo fans, and most importantly, nintendo-related "influencers" that it was okay (and maybe even expected) to be excited about the movie you can talk kids all you want, but 62% of the audience were 18 to 34 year olds pretty solid marketing plan
  16. https://www.thewrap.com/neon-carnival-lights-up-coachella-stagecoach-party-scenes-with-detective-pikachu-photos/ lol
  17. you should watch rise of gru, its the same basic illumination movie as Mario but done much better
