  1. You're thinking of Stan. Yeah it was a quick nod that he was afraid of the painting. If you notice he's covering his eyes from looking at it before he noticed it is crooked. But agreed it wasn't throughly explained. And the dad thing was touched upon too by no not overly explained either
  2. That's kind of the point. All the adults are part of the evil of the town. Just look st the skeevy pharmacist, and the adults in the car that just past by as Ben is being attacked by the 3 bullies I say he was scared. It's why he said fear just before he dropped, as well. That's my take anyway
  3. Looks like you were right And you were wrong lol

  5. Yeah i really liked it to love it now. going in completely blank and letting the film just be more its own made a huge difference. I may even see it again
  6. And the crowd I just saw it with laughed again when that trailer ended So 2 different showings at vastly different times had the same humorous reaction. Don't think it will hurt the film just that trailer is awful
  7. Yep, I think seeing it a second time will help me appreciate it more since I won't have my hang ups about the film in my head
  8. There was a few nods to the book that I would like to talk about but it probably is a spoiler for the book and maybe the next film. But i will say I'm glad they at least made mention of it
  9. probably factoring in the hurricane and football into the drop, maybe?
  10. nope, completely awful and the crowd thought so too. It didn't hype anything, just looked desperate. I know the blinders makes it hard to see that for you though, so you're forgiven
  11. btw, did anyone get that horrible mother! trailer about "you'll never forget when you saw this movie",etc, and "after your movie is over, go buy tickets"? My crowd laughed at how bad that trailer was not saying the movie is bad or is going to be bad, but that trailer crashed and burned at my showing last night
  12. Well just to add more positive, I liked the little 1989 references everywhere such as the movie marquee keep changing films from Batman to others
  13. I always liked this movie, plus it is a reminder of the one time me and this girl kissed for the first time, so it has that going for it too
  14. Ok after sleeping on it, I was kind of disappointed in the movie. As I said in the main IT thread, I still liked it enough and will give it a second viewing, but with them changing Mike and Ben for some unknown reason, to taking away the Barrens almost completely from the story, Bowers wasn't even shown his connections to the Losers Club and was just kind of the generic bad guy, to other little and big things, it kind of let me down. I can place some of that on myself since i heard it was more faithful to the book, so I didn't expect such big changes. But yes the kids were good, it was funny, had heart which is the real story of the book, but I just think they dropped the ball on what could have been an amazing film. I do like that it was on the edge of your seat for most of the film, and Pennywise was good and some of the little additions I liked such the bodies floating in air thing like a mobile. I thought Pennywise using Georgie as a ventriloquist dummy was pretty creepy too. So all in all, it wasn't bad, just thought it could have been more still in the B+ area for now, may go up on second viewing
  15. Surprise, we are on the same page. I had to sleep on it before I wrote. I think as a movie it was good, as well, which is why I want to see it again too now that I know what to expect. I guess when I heard it was faithful to the book and saw massive changes or omissions, it kind of lessened the film for me. But yes, it's good, still has some of the heart of the book and the kids were mostly good. Definitely creepy and intense for most of the movie. I may even agree with your grade, but want to reserve that for the second viewing before I settle on a score. But I think people that weren't as familiar with the book will eat this up.
