  1. I want to trust these social media reactions, but they really don't matter. I'm interested in the film, but whether or not Ehrlich enjoys the movie will not affect Box Office.
  2. The problem now isn't so much the amount of them, but the intensity of them. At least that's the way I understand it, as someone living in a tornado-free (for now) state.
  3. It's meant as humor, but also, I don't see how this film will do well in this climate. Literally.
  4. Twisters is starting their marketing push: https://www.cnn.com/weather/live-news/tornado-storms-forecast-oklahoma-kansas-05-06-24/index.html
  5. If that's what stopped them, they better just not release the film, because this is the new normal. This film isn't like San Andreas, where the destruction in the film feels unrealistic to the point where folks can still have fun with the premise. Tornados are destroying real lives. Right now! This is on CNN's website, right now: https://www.cnn.com/weather/live-news/tornado-storms-forecast-oklahoma-kansas-05-06-24/index.html
  6. The better someone's mood is when seeing a film, the more forgiving, in theory, that person will be. And the idea is, the mood of people at a film festival is much more positive because there's less outside influence of someone having a bad day that might affect their viewing. I first saw Dune: Part One while in the middle of a Pandemic depression of sorts and really struggled to enjoy it. I saw it months later, after my worries were gone, and thought the film was really good!
  7. The reason SXSW reviews are better is because seeing a good film at a festival is always going to help bump up the aftertaste than seeing a good film in a normal theater because, after it's over, you're still at a festival rather than thinking about the film as you drive home.
  8. Am I the only one who thinks Twisters is still a huge wildcard? If its a bad tornado season in the US, the film won't be able to market as well as if it's a calm season.
  9. All this talk about Gen Z and tiktokers, but are they the ones going to films? I don't think I've actually seen any real stats that back it up.
  10. The only reason people thought The Fall Guy was going to be huge was because it took Marvel's normal pre-COVID release weekend.
  11. You're kidding, right? Tell me you're joking! For one thing, Spider-Verse is its own thing, and the first animated film from the Avatarverse is a continuation of the series, and I guarantee it won't be aimed at Gen Z or Millennials any more than the original series was aimed at Gen X. Also, it'll have to be damn good to expect people to pay $20 to watch a franchise they got to see for free as a kid.
  12. That's because it was sandwiched between "This is also a Rom-Com" and "Hey look, Ryan is Beavis again!" marketing. The marketing felt very unsure of itself, and they never stayed in one lane long enough to make general audiences feel comfortable about the film.
  13. But there was. The Guinness World Record stunt! That was a major part of the marketing. And the rest of the stunt work, actually.
  14. No, they gave it a pass because they never factor in the cost of seeing a film in their reviews. This film looks like a perfectly good movie that I can wait to rent once it's on digital platforms, in my opinion, but a majority of the critics seeing it saw it for free and watching the film is their job. So they don't come out of the film with the same baggage general audiences have (ticket price, time spent, etc.).
  15. This is the main problem. I mean, the marketing for this film was ALL over the place. Hell, Universal got so desperate, they went back to the Beavis and Butthead SNL skit for the premiere.
  16. Well, and the fact that TVs of the time just couldn't get close to the quality of theatrical viewing. But that ship has sailed.
  17. Doesn't that just make the fact Fall Guy has less ticket sales but more screenings sound even worse?
  18. Good for him! He must feel very strongly, because if the film is shit, these folks will 100% dig these Tweets up and try to make his life a living hell.
  19. I guess maybe they're hoping a Red Carpet interview segment will go viral because Ryan's dressed like Bevis? But a viral clip from The Fall Guy's Red Carpet doesn't mean the film is now an event.
  20. Oh, wow. The marketing team for The Fall Guy is desperate. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C6aKE6ItV6O/?igsh=MTc4MmM1YmI2Ng==
  21. Okay, how bad must The Fall Guy presales be for this to happen? https://www.instagram.com/reel/C6aKE6ItV6O/?igsh=MTc4MmM1YmI2Ng==
