  1. I don't understand why you're putting in so much effort arguing with folks that just seem to want Wicked to fail. You're right that trailer views mean absolutely nothing. Especially now of all times.
  2. While I agree Luca was fine and Lightyear shouldn't exist, I thought Soul, Turning Red and Elemental were great. Onward was pretty good, but that came out as the pandemic began so my memories of that film are very fuzzy.
  3. I have a feeling IF is going to be a film critics don't like because of a weird dislike of Ryan Reynolds but audiences enjoy because they don't actually dislike Ryan Reynolds. I think it's going to exceed $35 million, but I don't bet on the box office for a reason.
  4. It's a weird narrative, too. The only bad Pixar film of the pandemic era was Lightyear. And the reasons it is bad have nothing to do with two women kissing.
  5. Why are you so upset about a post from a rando online? My god, you're paying way too much attention to me if you're able to tell me exactly what film's I'm apparently "concern trolling" on. Get a life.
  6. What in the hell is this link? A clip from a 2 hour video on why Avengers: Endgame is bad?
  7. Right, because reviews weren't moving the needle and presales weren't amazing. Word of mouth ended up being way more important, and that was because people told their friends the film was good. I was wrong about the film having John Wick numbers domestically, when it actually had The Little Mermaid numbers domestically. I genuinely think studios are putting too much stock in critic reviews at a time when its so much harder to parse which critics are trustworthy and which are fanboys who wouldn't last a day at an actual publication.
  8. Also, Knuckles didn't really make a dent when it landed, so starting the marketing this early doesn't make sense. Better to start in September or late August.
  9. Nah, they'll end it with Dorothy landing in Oz. Part 2 will be The Wizard of Oz, but Wicked. This half of the film will be padded out and new original songs will be written to stretch this aspect out longer than in the Broadway version. Just my guess.
  10. I still think Dune 2 did it best. Weren't those just a couple days before release? I could be mistaken.
  11. Why do so many people want this movie to fail? I was reading Gizmodo's negative review of the film and someone commented: "This is, by far, the most honest review of the movie I’ve seen, even if it isn’t kind. Even the kind reviews have not been good." The most honest review? How does someone who has never seen the film judge the honesty of a review in comparison to others? Also, the comment in question had 13 "likes." I genuinely don't understand the disdain for this film. EDIT: Just saw Scott Tobias' Tweet. "Gobsmacking debacle?" The hyperbole, holy shit.
  12. I think, in this modern film landscape, letting reviews come out from Cannes is a mistake unless the film comes out a week later. Studios think they'll move the needle on presales, but we're finding out more and more that's not the case.
  13. This comment section is wild. Why do so many people want certain films to fail?!? In this economy?!?
  14. Have either narrative really won out? I legitimately haven't heard about or even thought about this film in years. I never see it referenced by anyone online or off, either. I think people seem to agree it's not a bad film, but "the great movie on an era?" As for this teaser, it looks great, but also it's a series of random shots, so there's really nothing much to work with in this teaser.
  15. I'm with everyone else bringing up the "faked moon landing" aspect of the film. That really puts me off.
  16. Damn, Polygon was HARD on this film: https://www.polygon.com/reviews/24152022/kingdom-of-the-planet-of-the-apes-review
  17. Oh damn, I didn't even think about the fact Mad Max won't even be in this film. Will people actually be disappointed, though?
  18. You're acting like the folks suggesting this are doing so in good faith.
  19. I want to trust these social media reactions, but they really don't matter. I'm interested in the film, but whether or not Ehrlich enjoys the movie will not affect Box Office.
  20. The problem now isn't so much the amount of them, but the intensity of them. At least that's the way I understand it, as someone living in a tornado-free (for now) state.
  21. It's meant as humor, but also, I don't see how this film will do well in this climate. Literally.
  22. Twisters is starting their marketing push: https://www.cnn.com/weather/live-news/tornado-storms-forecast-oklahoma-kansas-05-06-24/index.html
  23. If that's what stopped them, they better just not release the film, because this is the new normal. This film isn't like San Andreas, where the destruction in the film feels unrealistic to the point where folks can still have fun with the premise. Tornados are destroying real lives. Right now! This is on CNN's website, right now: https://www.cnn.com/weather/live-news/tornado-storms-forecast-oklahoma-kansas-05-06-24/index.html
