Before getting into box office scores, I didn't not know how little money studios made off of movies after costs. Like when you see movies make hundrends of millions of dollars you expect more profit than you put it. There is no reason why a movie is spending almost 350 for production + marketing and making less than 200M in revenue
Looking at Hidden Figures which I guess is the best scenario for TCP. It had a much more diverse crowd ( 43 percent white, 37 percent Black) but it also skewed older as well with 56 percent 35 and older. I wonder if younger black audiences are less likely to watch movies about Black people struggles than older black people.
Does anyone have the indepth demo for this movie and I can't find the article that gives whole insight. I remember someone mentioning earlier in this thread that the advantage TCP that Woman King didn't was that it appealed to men
I honestly think people are more afraid now to take any risks with movies like these. Elemental based in the trailers looked extremely generic and most Pixar movies are now all about not following your parents dreams but your own
I was coming to seeing if y'all were talking about her interview. It's so disheartening especially since iirc Taraji has said she hates that she has to audition for roles including this one especially since she's an academy award winning actress and has been working in Hollywood for 3 decades
Or concert movies don't perform that well internationally. Looking at the top concert movies. Most of them are heavily dependent on the U.S.. like Katy's and Mileys both grosses 5-7M their entire run internationally
