A Pokémon movie would have to be live action in order for there to be mass interest, adults won't want to see an animated Pokémon film. Plus, there are already a plethora of animated Pokémon films, just not cgi.

I wish I had more likes to give for the nostalgic Jurassic posts. I was ecstatic that finally one of "my" movies was a huge hit. 😊

LOL what a fun summer that was.
Up
Hangover
ROTF
Bruno
Potter 6
The Proposal
District 9
Inglorious Basterds
Don't forget Ice Age 3, that was a monster overseas. Young me was super excited to follow the Transformers 2 and IA3 results. Solidified my interest in the box office, 2012 also did later that year.

Interesting director too. I love Autopsy of Jane Doe but wasn’t keen on Scary Stories.
I need to see Autopsy, but I thought Scary Stories was mediocre. I hope this is better.

I wonder how Nintendo feels about the movie, and if they are regretting partnering with Illumination. While I'm sure they will enjoy the financial success, the company also seems to take quality to heart.

Why are we mocking 14 year olds for their views on movies and critics? They're not hurting anyone.

Ryan Coogler to develop X-Files Reboot
I am super excited! The last couple seasons were disappointing in my opinion, I'm glad Carter is handing over the series.

See, I prefer Dark Phoenix. It still has some McAvoy and Fassbender goodness, and while the script is meh and obviously nowhere near what you want for this story, I still found it better than Shazam's. Also, there isn't anyone outright atrocious acting-wise in it (bad at times, but nothing as truly horrid as Lucy Liu), and the biggest difference is that n one in Dark Phoenix is as gratingly annoying as Levy and Grazer. For me Dark Phoenix doesn't belong with the other two, since it's not very far off from Apocalypse (itself a mediocre entry) but obviously suffered from its predecessor's reception and the "dead end" situation that the DCEU also finds itself in.
I don't think Shazam is unwatchable, but I'm also puzzled at Sandberg being taken aback by the reception. It's not a good movie.
Yeah I like Dark Phoneix, probably because I love sci fi. I liked the invaders, whatever they're called.

Honestly if you're going to have a big scandal with Majors, if you're at Marvel you're glad it's happening now and not like a week before Loki 2 or while he's already begun filming something else. Ezra Miller is the lead of Flash so it was way too late to recast or reshoot them, but it would probably not be too hard to move stuff around to recast Majors if needed, with minimal delays if any. They could easily just swap him between projects like Terrence Howard or William Hurt with no fanfare.
Oh dang, I did not know he had more episodes of Loki coming (I haven't been following that series). I wonder if Disney will try to change the episodes somehow now.

That is not good news for Feige right now.
Hopefully the woman is alright, based on the descriptions it doesn't seem too bad thankfully.

Think a better question than "what went wrong?" is "did anything go right?"
1. The marketing was ineffective and made it appear as if they replaced the innocent charm that people liked about the first movie with more of the same old hollow spectacle.
2. 4 years was too long between installments for a franchise whose pitch is "Big: Superhero Edition" (Jack Dylan Grazer and Asher Angel are both now legally adults).
3. The reviews, once the embargo ended, were mediocre and made it apparent why the studio seemed to give up on the movie.
4. More appealing movies aimed at its particular demos (Dungeons & Dragons, The Super Mario Bros Movie) are right around the corner.
5. The DC brand doesn't seem to have much audience loyalty anymore after a decade of mostly "blah" product with few gems in between, with the cancellation of an already made movie (Batgirl) only reinforcing the notion that this is a brand in shambles.
6. It's no secret the DC Universe itself is on the verge of what seems to be a complete reboot, which is giving their movies this year a "past its sell-by date" vibe already. I think the only thing that can save Aquaman 2 from a similar rough drop at this point is if lightning strikes twice and it somehow catches on as the default event movie for Christmas again.
I'm not sure if Dungeons and Dragons is much more appealing.. I doubt it gets near 30 mil OW.

I hope he does return to horror, Lights Out and Annabelle: Creation are among my favorite horror movies of the past decade, heck A:C is among my favorites of all time.

Levi will be doing Tangled 2 in a few years.
Wait, have there been talks about a sequel?!! I know a producer of the first film was asked a few months ago, and didn't say no, but he didn't seem exactly enthusiastic about a sequel either.

I know shazam 2 doesn't look particularly appealing, but its still a shame its flopping since the first one was the best dceu movie and better than any phase 3 mcu movie
I'd probably agree with the very last point on Phase 3 of the MCU (if I'd seen Shazam), but Civil War is great.
I feel bad for the director, I hope he goes back to my genre of choice: horror after this. I liked Lights Out and loved Annabelle: Creation.

I liked this, it's a fun sci-fi survival movie. I'd definitely recommend seeing this on the big screen.

Meg will eat those turtles up. People like megalodons. Probably will be at 1 for two weeks, as I don't see Gran Turismo doing good. Need For Speed grossed under 70 mil Dom, and Neil Blankenship seems to have lost his touch with Chappie, and apparently Demonic.

So how did this series turn out in terms of viewership? A success? Mixed results? Failure?
-
Yikes. Hopefully I'll still enjoy the film, I won't be going to the theaters again afterwards until Mermaid this May. 😞

Not every movie needs comic relief, I'm excited for this partially because of the lack of humor. So many movies lately have had humor forced in.

The problem with Marvel is that they are to silly. There is a reason why Black Panther 1 and 2 was successfully embraced by audience and the awards industry. You can tell a heartfelt story with great acting and still be fun. Hopefully they let coogler do Secrets Wars.
Yeah, the humor has kind of gotten out of hand, I'd argue since 2016....
That being said, I hope Marvel starts releasing more serious movies like Wakanda Forever. I really liked that film.

Ironic as if you cut out all the context like mediocre WOM, international box office looking to underwhelm and the fact that people are saying it be in trouble rather than it’ll die immediately, then yeah everyone is totally saying the MCU is forever dead. Would expect a bit more brainpower from the guy who sent out threats to the mods.
Threats to mods?! He got that bad?
Also, good opening for Ant Man 3! Let's see if it has legs.

Well, this doesn't look any better than the first to me. Too much dumb humor, and probably will have another boring story. I like that Black Panther 2 was relatively serious compared to others.
