  1. :wub:You must`ve passed out from your birthday booze because tons of stuff changed around here. i`m no more beat-the-Shriekapoo Camp. I`m now TH Trilogy Under My Precious Masterpiece FOTR. I don`t want FOTR to end up the lowest grossing movie so I`m rooting for TH Trilogy to fall short of FOTR unadjusted and last 3 Twilight movies.
  2. I don`t think the problem is that it isn`t LOTR. It`s just that going sequel to prequel requires of any prequel to have something really essential for the trip backwards. TH and stuff in Appendices that WB has the rights to use ain`t that. OTOH, there`s tons of prequel-worthy Silmarillion shit but they don`t have rights.IMO, The Prequels suffered from the same problem - when you know how the story ends, what came before it should have been extremly interesting and essential and what we ended up getting was some shit about Vader going crazy because he believed Padme would die. And some shit about Storm Troopers being the clone of Boba Fett`s original clone tissue donor. Like, WTF?
  3. 3 movies is totally safe especially since it looks like each is aping one of LOTR movies. TH is reportedly structured like FOTR (it even has a prologue) albeit less engaging and emotional. DoS is shaping to be like TTT - new characters with their subplots, some battle and TABA to be like ROTK where battle is the centerpiece of the movie. All that was supposed to create the same effect except that they didn`t count on critical hammering and lower interest.
  4. I like the book for what it is but I don`t consider it an essential reading for LOTR fans becasue I don`t think that there`s anything that enriches the LOTR story in there. It also doesn`t explain things better since they are pretty well covered in those books. It`s a nice companion book and certainly flows better when you read it before LOTR but it definitely isn`t essential reading after you read LOTR. Riddles in the Dark and Bilbo and Smaug chat are highlights and everything else is been there done that.
  5. I`m not arguing otherwise. It was so safe it was boring. PJ is the safest, most boring director now. That`s why I`m happy that things started off unexpectedly and I hope the end total will be unexpectedly low. That`s all true. My point is that neither should have been so expensive.
  6. Nothing happens in this part of the book, even with additions, in terms of the plot. people run into various menace, fight, get some advise from Elves, run into new menace, fight, keep getting rescued in the last moment without a scratch. That`s nothing in terms of forwarding the story.
  7. What`s so ridiculous about TLR costing $250 mio? It`s a double standard if one is hammered because f its budget and another is given a pass. Also, when filming KK, PJ was saying that movie like that would have costed over $200 mio in US and that he`d make it for $150 in NZ. The budget balooned to $205 mio. So either tax break isn`t as big advantage as PJ wants us to believe or he can`t keep the budget in check despite tax break help. So if we go with the second scenario than I wouldn`t rule out additional cost of the thrird movie going up to $200 mio.
  8. Of course it complicated issues. They have to pay people who will be working on post prod til 2014 whereas originally all worked should have been finished in 2013. Then they have to adjust actor`s pay for 3 movies instead of 2 at least those who appear in all 3. There was a scandal with Three Musketeers from 1970s when the movie was split in 2 but actors were paid only for one. The case was won and created prescendant so they must pay actors. In other words, they aren`t getting the thrid movie gratis out of old budget but it`ll add up to the budget maybe not as another $250 mio entity but definitely not under $100 mio either all costs of prolonged production considered. And it`ll have just as big marketing cost as the other two.
  9. WB said the budget for 2 movies was $500 mio. That`s $250 mio per movie. Now there are 3 movies + reshoots. Kiss $500 mio goodbye. They are not going to do all that without adding more cash on top of already ridic pile.
  10. There are massive budgets and massive budgets and this one is ridic. Especially since even NZ tax breaks, which are supposedly the reason why the production must remain there, cannot lower the cost under $250 mio per movie. Sorry but that`s just insane. If people can clobber TLR for being a $250 mio western they sure should clobber this for costing $270 mio after NZ tax shit. That production is cheaper in NZ is obviously one big fat lie. This,KK and Avatar are proof.
  11. No movie starring big stars should have that kind of a budget let alone one loaded with Z-listers. Where did that money go? Apparently not on CGI either because I`m hearing complaints it wasn`t all that hot save for Gollum.
  12. That hopefully lives up to its promise. May many movies in 2013 have attractions that make Smaug look like Charmin Ultra`s bear kid.
  13. First movie isn`t out even 2 weeks and the whole trilogy is already pronounced a historical fail. Love it. This should so be true.
  14. Yes, you didn`t know that Neo is an anagram for One just like Sith is an anagram for Shit? Rearrange letters and you`ll see.
  15. I hope that all TH movies makes under last 3 Twilight movies. Since TH fanboys were so bent on destroying DH2, TA,etc may Twilight destroy TH Trilogy.
  16. Flopbit:An Unexpected Turkey rhymes better with Hobbit:An Unexpected Journey.
  17. I disagree flopbit is a bad pun. Flop (a) bit is about right. It isn`t an outright ot real flop just flop bit. A bit of a flop only told in Yoda speech.
  18. :rofl:It was just a matter of time when someone would come up with a nickname.
