  1. by the way, when someone is in the red i will post the list of films that put you in the red in the bank account thread. (Wrath & Lucasbenica's lists are already in there) as it stands, no one else is in danger at the moment, but i am sure it will begin to change from next week.
  2. Weekend Results 18th to 20th March 2016 : Lucasbenica finally wrestles control from Wrath….. After being the bridesmaid for 4 weeks (and fell to 3rd last week), @lucasbenica, has finally taken the top spot, finally toppling Wraths lengthy at the top. Lucas managed a strong 58.2m weekend. @Wrath finally slipped a spot to 2nd with a further 36.5m to his name. Returning to 3rd was me ( @JJ-8) with 34.5m. @CJohn slipped back to 4th with 32m. @WrathOfHan continued to hold down the 5th spot with a resilient 18.7m. Also of note, was the new rule that has now come into effect. With immediate effect, Lucasbenica and Wrath (out 2 leaders) are now restricted from invested in any film “LISTED” as wide. At this point, I am unsure whether Wrath will be able to invest again this Friday – it’s possible given both Risen and the Young Messiah should both shed theatres. It will depend on how many theatres as to whether he returns under. Wrath is at 340% and unless both go below wide release, he will remain restricted thanks to his 100% investment MBFGW2. Lucasbenica, on the other hand is currently locked to remain restricted for the near future thanks to investments in BVS and MBFGW2 totalling 130%. No doubt he will get some investments back in a week or 2’s time. Anyway, before I show this weeks chart, onto next weekend. Well It’s all about 1 film and who has investments in it. Lucasbenica is certain the lead the weekend by a wide margin given the fact he led this weekend and he has 100% investment in BVS too. Given he has spent 260m on the film, he has some way to go to profitability. Unless MBFW2 really breaks out, I expect Wrath to dip someway down the chart. In fact the top half of the chart could be completely flipped on it’s head over BVS hits the ground running. 13. @lucasbenica There are indeed 5 different Charts or awards that I handed out in the past :- The Geekfreek Awards are handed out annually...... * ROI Award (Return on Investment) ~ Calculated as Average % Gain * Best Investor Award ~ calculated as $ earnt per % Spent * Company Value Award ~ it's your bank account essentially at the end of the game... * Revenue Award ~ i'm sure u can guess this one I also hand some "technical awards" too * Sales Award ~ basically who ever made the most onsales to another player through the year * The Weekend Award ~ highest weekend of the year... And Finally the big daddy..... * The Geekfreek Award (Named after the user who first developed the game back in BOM forum days...) The Greekfreek Award as always reflects the best player of the game (it's a calculated score based upon all the main charts above - weighted (excludes technical) ) (and yes my spreadsheet calculates all of these already )
  14. It's where I expected it to be. i never expected lots of sellouts at this point. My gut says an opening in the 12m to 14m is where this will land. Above 14m would be a great performance. I also think it will be on about 650 screens. That amount of sales this far from opening is give or take fairly in line with other blockbusters that opened in the 13m to 15m range. Except I see that total spread over 5 days. Hence my expectation of a 12 to 14 weekend (4 day). To be fair to BVS nothing has ever come close to what TFA did in presales or eventual sales on OW. Mybe potter is a tad closer given it pulled a 25m 5 day. Still TFA's presales and ow / OD records are the new yardsticks.
  15. it allso means while investing 100% in a big film up front will look great for a while to your bottom line when it's still in > 600 theatres 6 weeks + and only early a few million... you will feel the pain and hoping the studio / theatres owners stop showing the darn movie! a perfect example is Spotlight from last year... Feb 19–21 26 $522,353 -25.3% 401 -54 $1,303 $38,102,424 16 Feb 26–28 21 $735,999 +40.9% 685 +284 $1,074 $39,121,520 17 Mar 4–6 14 $1,766,212 +140% 1,227 +542 $1,439 $41,562,351 18 Mar 11–13 16 $931,412 -47.3% 847 -380 $1,100 $43,187,686 19 the past 3 weekends, it would have counted towards your total % (imagine if you had 100% tied up in it ?) the pain it would create! and this also shows what would happen during expansions... week 16 @ 100% would mean nothing, but week 17, 18, or 19 would mean 100% towards active if you have 100% in the film of course. and for those in KFP3 for example: 12 7 Kung Fu Panda 3 Fox $1,707,494 -52.2% 1,650 -1,050 $1,035 $136,465,362 - 7 still in 1650 theatres at this point... and up to week 7. you get the picture... smart investments is going to the key and while getting a movie to go big is going to help a lot, this will make the game more strategic at times too.
  16. oh in the above example... if that player had not invested in hardcore henry then the restrictions would not have happen... as i said, it's going to be about smart investments rather than just going nuts into everything you can..... no point in going over the limit and then finding that you can't invest for like over a month meaning you likely end up with a gap in your schedule later in the year.... hence the complete blockage at the time. in theory you can end up with a lot of % active (ie. >> 300% but it locks you out of further investments.... i'm sure there will be times where someone delibrately goes over, but while there is a lag in the impact, they will be brought back to earth eventually.
  17. 1) I'll make this clear... NO. I said if the film had WIDE listed on BOM then you cannot invest in it (> 600 estimate counts as the same of course too) you are restricted from investing in films LISTED as wide release intially .. (even the film does go wide, even its forecast, i will allow an investment... see answer below) 2) YES you can... the restriction does not kick in until you are > 300% released. remember you're investing in a future release there so it won't count until it's actually released and not before... in theory if you are clever enough you can time the releases you buy such that glide under the radar, but once again the effect still works as it will slow you down and stop you from investing in everything which this is designed too without stopping you playing at all. because eventually all films will drop below the limits.... I'm ingoring 2b as i think my answers here will answer it already .. .lol and i just don't get it 3) expansion films will work the same... while they are limited they DO NOT count towards the limit, but as soon as your investment goes above 600 screens, well then it will count. hope this makes sense. it's not about being released as wide, it's designed about the amount of films you have in "wide release" at any one time. the key here is release. it's means theoretically you can be @ 290% and invest in whatever you want but once your @ 300 or higher, you can't.... so for example. Week prior to BVS :- you have the following setup * you have 190% worth of wide releases * 100% investment in BVS * 100% investment in the jungle book Post BVS release, you go up to 290% wide releases because the 190% is all still in wide release + you have BVS. Following week you invest in : * Civil War - 100% (say you have enough cash) 2nd weekend of BVS, your % now drops to 260% thanks to a film dropping below 600 screens. again you can invest in something : you decide that hardcore henry looks worthwhile (coming out that week) and invest 30%. you also invest in Ratchet and clank for 50% 3rd weekend BVS goes and Hardcore opens.. so you go 260% + 30% but another film drops below 600 ~ -40% = 250% 4th weekend BVS and the jungle book opens - your % goes 250% + 100% -20% (for a film that dipped below) = 330% Now you are unable to invest in The Angry Birds etc..... 5th weekend of BVS ... no change... 330% 6th Weekend of BVS ... -50% = 280% but ratchet and clank opens... so back at 330% 7th weekend BVS + civil war opens... another -50% ... but thanks to civil war you are now up to 380%.... i hope this now makes sense.
  18. Correct. If we find a source like that and yes I will update accordingly in both cases. But I note this BOM will always over rule. Only if it puts a budget up of course.
  19. True. Hmmm. Tbh i wouldn't be surprised with the following : alice as noted 200m cacw above 200m xmen above 200m i will change Alice to 200m though.
  20. As u only 25% of 10cl as the example it will only need to drop below 2400 theatres overall. And it will be no longer counted towards the rule. You have the concept. Some of the lessor movies will drop quickly. Bigger movies will take longer of course.
