  2. for the film yes.. but if you consider the fact it faced Shrek 2 which opened to 13m and went on to be only the 2nd film in australian history at the time to pass 50m. The drop isn't so surprising in that context as it direct audience competition in Shrek 2 (both PG films here). Makes BVS's drop against nothing new in the market place (and i mean nothing new at all.. ~ well some limited releases only), a real shock... that is toxic.

  14. just so everyone remembers..... I'm only posting this once..... 11 hours and 20 minutes until CW is available. (hope i calculated right)
  15. yep day early but it's close... so close i can almost taste it!
  16. Ok i've done some digging and come up with the top 10 2nd weekend drops for films opening > 10m. no surprises that all but the first Twilight film (which opened sub 10m anyway) made this chart, but while i am not surprised Potter also appeared on the chart multiple times, i was surprised the 3rd film managed the worst drop ever. (well maybe not so much when you consider if faced the mega beast Shrek 2 in it's 2nd weekend and Shrek 2 sucked the market dry with an impressive 13m at the time - pretty sure it was the first time we've ever had 2 films open > 10m 2 weekends in a row) BVS ... well there is no way to sugar coat this drop. the drop is simply epic. in the worst way possible. Most surprisingly, it is the only comic book film in the top 10. In fact the next worst comic book film drop belonged to iron man 3 in 16th. probably the only good news is, BVS will pass 30m. Azkahan managed 33m after it's epic drop though i should point out that Azkaban faced a 13m opener in Shrek 2 which would sucked the life out of that film, while BVS faced ummm the same films that it faced opening weekend.. Maybe this could point to worse things to come for BVS given it's collapsed without any new competition at all (nothing else opened wide) anyway here is the top 10 All Time Chart - Australia (in AUD) POS Movie Rating Distributor Open Date Opening Weekend 2nd Weekend Drop Scns Total Gross 1 Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban PG Warner Bros 10-Jun-04 $11.94 M -65.85% 452 $33.13 M 2 ● Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice M Warner Bros 24-Mar-16 $13.16 M -65.08% 594 $22.73 M 3 The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 M 15-Nov-12 $12.49 M -64.05% 655 $28.53 M 4 The Twilight Saga: New Moon M Hoyts 19-Nov-09 $16.10 M -62.55% 530 $38.72 M 5 Fifty Shades of Grey MA15+ Universal 12-Feb-15 $10.44 M -61.83% 523 $23.71 M 6 Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix M Warner Bros 12-Jul-07 $12.87 M -59.76% 500 $35.55 M 7 The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 M 17-Nov-11 $12.11 M -58.54% 618 $28.44 M 8 Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire M Warner Bros 1-Dec-05 $12.36 M -58.47% 552 $35.76 M 9 The Twilight Saga: Eclipse M Hoyts 1-Jul-10 $12.99 M -58.46% 536 $32.38 M 10 Fast and Furious 6 M 6-Jun-13 $11.09 M -57.76% 513 $27.00 M
  17. I'll dig some stats out later tonight. Zoo is traveling great. I'm expecting flat over the next 3 weekends. 20m should easily be passed. Hoping allegiant can open above 4m but expecting about 3.5m. But that doesn't open until the 14th. huntsmans war opens this weekend coming. The jungle book is also platform releasing this weekend in qld/Vic.
  18. Epic fall for BVS. I threw eclipse on the comparison as a bottom end. If that holds we could see a sub 30m total. (Ps I doubt it as I expect BVS to make it. But still epic collapse. )
  19. Happy to change based on this. 10m it is. And yes you can invest. It release is limited.
  20. AND it is done! First Post and all templates are updated. EVERYONE take note - you will need to recopy the template....... or at least the final section of it... so you can answer the 30 questions... Good luck everyone... (now i'd better get into this soon too )
  21. Here is Part B : ( I will update the first post here + the template in the sub forum) Part B: It’s a Comic Book World In recognition of the recent domination of Comic Book Movies (Especially Marvel and DC), and an expectation that a comic book film will top the domestic summer. Here are 20 questions to clear the air…. To be clear on the inclusions, the following films are included in this question: Captain America: Civil War; X-Men: Apocalypse; Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows; Suicide Squad Questions 1) A comic book film is expected to make the highest opening weekend during the summer game (Many of you will have it as your number 1 Weekend). Name that Film OR if you don’t think a Comic Film will be the number 1 weekend this summer, then put NONE. 2) Will Captain America: Civil War make more than Iron Man 2 (128.1m) on Opening Weekend? 3) Will Captain America: Civil War make more than Iron Man 3 (174.1m) (and inherently more than BVS) on Opening Weekend? 4) Will Captain America: Civil War make more than Captain America: The Winter Soldier (259.8m)? 5) Will Captain America: Civil War become the biggest MCU film which doesn’t have “The Avengers” in its title (ie. More than Iron Man 3 (409m)) 6) Will X-Men: Apocalypse make more than X-Men: Days of Future Past (90.8m) on Opening weekend? 7) Will X-Men: Apocalypse make more than Deadpool (132.4m) on Opening weekend (this would make it the largest of the X-Men series)? 8) Will X-Men: Apocalypse make more than X-Men: The Last Stand (234.4m)? 9) Will X-Men: Apocalypse become the biggest of the X-Men series/franchise (Deadpool – Final number isn’t done yet)? 10) Will Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows make more than Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) (65.6m) on Opening weekend? 11) Will Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows make more than Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) (191.2m)? 12) Will Suicide Squad make more than Captain America: The First Avenger (65.1m)? 13) Will Suicide Squad (Total) make more than Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Opening Weekend (170m – estimate)? 14) Will All Comic Book films (Total) make more than 1 Billion domestically (Total of all 4 films together)? 15) Will any Comic Book film drop more than 62% in it’s second weekend? (this will always reference 3 day totals only) 16) In how many of the following markets will a Comic Book film be the number 1 film during the Game? (You have a cushion of 1 country) Australia; Brazil; China; France; Germany; Mexico; Russia; South Korea; United Kingdom 17) Will Captain America: Civil War make more than 1 Billion Worldwide? 18) Will Captain America: Civil War (Worldwide Total) OR X-Men: Apocalypse (Worldwide Total) make than Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (Worldwide Total) AND Suicide Squad (Worldwide Total) Worldwide? 19) Will at least 2 Comic Book films receive a Cinema Score of at least “A”? 20) How Many Comic Book films will be in the ALL 3 of the main game charts? (there is no Cushion for this one!) Scoring For each correct answer you will receive +5k. For each incorrect answer you will receive -5k. (No Answer / abstain 1 question will be assumed to be incorrect. YOU MUST ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS IN THIS SECTION IF YOU GO FOR IT) You can choose to ABSTAIN Part B (This section) for 10k. Bonus Scores If you get 14, 15 or 16 out 20 right in Part 2, you receive a Bonus of 2k. If you get 17 or 18 out 20 right in Part 2, you receive a Bonus of 3k. If you get 19 out 20 right in Part 2, you receive a Bonus of 5k. If you get 20 out 20 right in Part 2, you receive a Bonus of 20k.
  22. Heres the showdown... Mainly BVS vs FF7, but i've included Deadpool as it's the current 2016 leader though there isn't much difference between FF7 and deadpool. I also included Twlight: Eclipse as the other option should BVS start to collapse. It's certainly on a different path to FF7 already... i suspect somewhere in between eclipse and FF7 here... anyway here it is: Week # Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Fast & Furious 7 Deadpool The Twilight Saga: Eclipse Released 24/03/2016 2/04/2015 11/02/2016 1/07/2010 (Weekend = First Line) Week 1 (OW) $13,156,925 $13,156,925 $14,620,741 $14,965,436 $14,943,402 $14,943,402 $12,990,707 $13,006,412 W/E Screens/Ave 594 22,150 507 28,838 396 37,736 536 24,236 Opening Day 3,400,000 3,300,000 3,000,000 4,425,000 5 Day total 15,700,000 17,960,000 N/A N/A Week 2 $7,712,617 $30,329,796 $7,907,512 $27,106,110 $5,396,651 $23,149,281 W/E % Drop -47.2% -47.1% -58.5% Week 3 $4,381,996 $37,612,042 $4,421,944 $33,593,624 $2,518,638 $27,648,161 Week 4 $1,570,108 $40,316,402 $2,556,624 $37,235,734 $1,216,786 $29,590,367 Week 5 $1,040,895 $41,819,524 $1,609,207 $39,622,252 $744,290 $30,696,145 Week 6 $510,891 $42,612,563 $1,011,612 $41,224,832 $438,286 $31,355,497 Week 7 $282,266 $43,066,153 $498,608 $42,142,399 $214,259 $31,741,489 Week 8 $93,530 $43,241,134 $104,908 $31,922,757 Week 9 $30,196 $31,989,874 Week 10 TOTAL: $13,156,925 $43,330,000 $42,142,399 $32,382,317 Projected $35,000,000 $43,100,000
  23. Weekend Results 25th - 27th March 2016 (Easter 2016) : Lucasbenica Shatters the Easter Game Record...... With a slight (some here would say it's an underperformance) overperformance from BVS, @lucasbenica has managed to put up one of one of the all time record weekends in Fantasy Box Office Game with a stunning 203m. The Easter Weekend previous high was Alfred back in 2010 with 58m. Even the March record wasn't even close to the new high with Lucas nearly doubling the previous high. In fact it is the third highest weekend total in the game. As a result Lucas also has already taken the overall March record with a few days to spare. @grey ghost fought his way into 2nd spot with an excellent 89m. @BourneFan #1 took down third with 65m. @chasmmi rallied into 4th with 48m while @Exxdee managed to round out the top 5. In fact only lucas remained from last weeks top 5 such was the change in the charts with last weeks 2nd spot ( @Wrath) dipping to 9th this week. Both Wrath and Lucasbenica continue to subject to investment restrictions with both now well in excess of the 300% level, and i expect lucasbenica to remain at this level for sometime yet. After the highs of the weekend just gone, expect some semblance of normalcy as BVS comes back to earth. Which will bring Lucasbenica back down from his high. At this point, I expect Lucasbenica will easily hold onto the top spot for the 3rd weekend running. Grey Ghost will continue to sit in second especially given the fact he has an investment in the only wide release of note God's not dead 2 this coming weekend. cjohn also is likely to rise, potentially into the top 5 if GND2 manages a reasonable opening.
