  1. No you won't. You'll bounce back with CA: Civil War and you'll do it next year!

Personally, I am a bit of a Marvel movie fan, and I was always more excited about Civil War than AOU, especially when I learned that AOU's big baddie was going to be a fucking

robot. That didn't excite me in the slightest. Maybe the movie should have been more direct that Thanos was the one that created Ultron to get rid of the Avengers. There were subtle hints about it, but guess what, I'm not one for subtlety or the use of metaphors in movies.

  2. ya ive never been a boxing fan and after that im still not. "fight of the century?" both guys are perfectly fine after it, smiling, chilling with their peeps...i dont get it, if that was supposed to be the pinnacle of boxing today, was a freakin borefest. i see better fights after the bars close every weekend.

Shit, I've seen better fights from cheerleaders at a highschool football game. Them bitches are vicious!

  3. Is it true that it will have over 20 characters? That's just insanely off-putting.

I honestly have no fucking clue what is going to happen. I don't read comics, and I'm pretty much just watching the movies for the ride.

The good news is, that most movies with a huge ensemble have to devote a good chunk of time in introducing the characters, and by the time the Infinity Wars come out, that part has already been taken care of by the smaller solo flicks. They have a massive team behind this, great casting and so forth, so while I am honestly disappointed with AOU, I do believe the studio would have gotten it's shit together by IW. I definitely believe something was going on between Feige and Whedon, and that there was a falling out between the two parties, and it's why AOU felt so disjointed.

  4. Sometimes fanboys are the worst. Having a younger Parker makes for a potentially more interesting dynamic with the rest of the team, especially the big 4.

Yeah, tell me about it. The latest Daredevil show didn't have Matt in his comic book costume until the last episode, and I personally thinks it looks horrible, I preferred the black ninja outfit more. But, the fanboys are like, if it's not like the comics, then blah!!!!!!!

I'm like, some things in comics will not register right with the general audience. Like the whole thing with Loki turning into a mare and giving birth to an 8 legged horse. Steve Rogers falling in love and marrying Peggy's niece (they looked like they toyed with the idea in Cap 2, but since this new movie came out, sounds like they are shutting the door on any potential love interest for Cap from here on out.)

  5. AoU will make more tonight than half the marvel films leading up to it made in their OW.

If you think about it, last year, so many summer/superhero tentpole movies couldn't seem to get away from that 90 million OW bracket (remember, Cap 2, Godzilla, GOTG and so forth) Now, AOU comes along, and does this feat in one night!

  6. marvel's biggest mistake was not including child/teen characters from the beginning that would have grown up over the years with the movies and had a similar impact to harry potter. this era of the mcu will end with iw2 after TEN YEARS just like harry potter and yet it has NO generation impact because it's so stagnant and no one grows up throughout it. not hating, i just think it would have been cool and a good move

Blame the fanboys on that one, who claim they hate kids in movies. Heck, Ironman 3 had a kid in it, and they bitched and bitched like crazy about it. Heck, Marvel right now is looking for a teen to play Spider-Man, and the comic book nerds are going apeshit about it.

But I agree, the biggest fans of this franchise behind the fangirls, and the kids. And I'm pretty sure the kids are the ones buying up all of the toys.

  7. Potter was the first book series that had people camping out at midnight to get their hands on the book. In the age of technology and computers/cell phones, the fact that Rowling had people reading 700-page tomes like they were the coolest thing in the world is a testament to her skill.

Potter is the most beloved and popular hero of the 21st century. This is not even in question.

He is? Most people I know who read Harry Potter hated Harry the most, they liked his friends more! I myself liked Hermione and Draco over him! My cousin who is my closest friend loved Ron and Haggard the most.

  8. Oh, and could we just agree, that Potter, Star Wars and Marvel all have a well deserved place in the history of movies and media, without being compareable?

That's like that eternal discussion about Gone with the Wind, Star Wars, Titanic or Avatar being most successful.

Different times, different factors, all fucking great in what they are and have achieved. That has to be enough...

I'm just waiting for Emma Watson to join the cast of the Avengers. I feel it in my bones that they are eyeing her, they're just not sure what role they want her for.

  9. The Avengers have been around since the 1960's. Marvel has been around since the late 1930's. It already has the longer legacy.

Yep, agree! I remember watching The Incredible Hulk when I was just a toddler myself! That show came out in 1978.

I was first introduced to Thor in Adventures in Babysitting, and this was in 1987.

  10. Based on the lines at my suburban theater. I'm thinking 95-105 for the range. Less than 90 would make my jaw drop at this point

I really wished I had gotten photos of the clusterfuck going on at the theater I was at last night. But, my phone died! But, they had lines building up since 6:00 AM on Wednesday morning. No joke!

  11. Credit must be given where credit is due.

Congratulations, AoU. It took four years for a film to top Potter, and only because of an extra five hours, and having a film that jumbles in many superheroes.

    Cheers.

Hey, look on the bright side, it took a witch being added to Avengers to take out Potter! I wonder who would win in a duel, Scarlet Witch or Hermione?

  12. You guys are acting like the day is over already!

    There's something about counting chickens...

Yeah, I finally got out last night at 10, and it took me 90 minutes to get out of the area because of the theater traffic. It's Friday, 5:10 right now for crying out loud, kids are still in afterschool programs, people still at work and whatnot. And this is just the eastern seaboard.

  13. I still aren't buying the number. With a film this crazed, anything can happen. I'll wait and take it seriously tomorrow.

Agree. I may not have liked the movie, but, regardless, the lines for this were going out the damn door when I was leaving from my viewing. My first viewing had a 742 seat auditorium sold out! That's just one auditorium. They had 10 showings going at all times, so you do the math!

  14. From what I gather from Twitter, people haven't got trailers for Star Wars, BvS, Mad Max, Ant-Man, Inside Out or Tomorrowland. What trailers are theaters programming with Avengers 2?? If they don't want to play Star Wars or BvS I understand as the movies are far away still and will have their own huge marketing campaigns. But playing the Mad Max trailer or a Fantastic Four trailer or an Ant-Man trailer before Avengers would definitely lead to some additional interest in those movies from audiences on the fence. Instead, the trailers before Avengers seem to be the initial teasers instead of the later and better trailers for some of these.

Well, I got the Star Wars trailer, Jurassic World, Antman, and some really, really stupid looking thing called Pixel. A movie where Pacman and Donkey Kong are trying to take over the world.

  15. To be fair, The number would of been almost nothing if Avengers only had midnights because its fanboys are all young children.

    Joke guys, joke.

Actually, the really funny thing, the theater I was at had two types of marvel marathons going on. One was with all of the movies leading up the premier of AOU at 7:00 on Thursday, and the other was a double feature with the Avengers and AOU. Well, the theater manager was shocked, and was actually pointing out to everyone, that 70% of the people coming to these marathons were women! Fangirls!
