  1. Yeah. If they gave us another 10 year break between trilogies, than maybe X could be massive again, but that won't happen. Even if it did, there will have been so many SW related movies over the next several years that it would probably take even longer than a 10 year break for them to feel like this kind of event again.
  2. Honestly I feel like TFA is proving what I always suspected about TPM: it would have challenged Titanic had the fans been truly on board with the movie.
  3. Glad you brought that up. Disney will definitely be wanting the best for Avatar considering the Pandora coming to Animal Kingdom is the most expensive park addition they have built up to this point. Quite frankly I'm sure they would love to make this franchise their next "acquirement" if it could at all be possible.
  4. I'd say 0% chance it falls to 30m on Monday. It has been following Avatar's holds too closely still to deviate that extreme so quickly. I highly doubt it drops anymore than 30% on Monday which would be like 35-36m.
  5. Lol, yeah I wasn't factoring in SOTM 3 when I said that. Take that out and you would've been tied for first.
  6. Lol, yeah that's a fun dream but no. That being said as high as a 5x multi still isn't off the table, which is 1.24b or so. January will be the real test. 1 bil is locked. it should be anywhere between 800-830 next Sunday. I'm really liking my $1.111b prediction right now though in the box office contest.
  7. 1000 Will Star Wars outgross The Avengers? YES 2000 Will Star Wars outgross Titanic? YES 4000 Will Star Wars outgross Avatar? YES 7000 Will Star Wars outgross Titanic before the end of 2015? NO 10000 Will Star Wars be the highest grossing film in January? YES 16000 Will Star Wars be the highest grossing film from February 1st to the end of the game? NO (CUT SHORT) 20000 Will Star Wars gross more than $875M? YES 24000 How many new releases on January 15th will have a larger weekend gross than Star Wars? VOID 28000 How many weekends in January (excluding New Years W/E) will Star Wars be Number 1? THREE (LIFE SAVER) 32000 Will Star Wars gross more than $1B? YES
  8. But isn't that the same thing as losing the normal way? I mean unless you use your lifesaver or void one, if you answer incorrectly, that's where you stop.
  9. I loved this. Funny, thought provoking, and a great ensemble. McKay's direction was fantastic and really a breath of fresh air. This is far and away the most "Best Picture" of the BP contenders I've seen (which is everything except The Revenant and Carol). Can't comment on those two, but I would be pretty shocked if this doesn't end up a bigger front-runner than Spotlight. I can easily see BP, BD, Adap SP, and Editing awards. I also predict both Carrell and Bale will score "surprise" noms.
  10. I just checked into that thread and saw his glorious post about how TFA won't be able to compete with Avatar's TV showings. Oh Kal.
  11. It just now occurs to me that today is the day TPM loses its short but insidious reign as the highest grossing SW movie DOM. The force is in balance again!
  12. Carol definitely seems to be either love or "what's the big deal?" from every non-critic reaction I've seen.
  13. Rey's theme is the closest anything gets to being truly memorable, but I can't see it holding its own against the classics. Everything else is nice for the most part, but almost totally forgettable.
  14. Don't watch Brooklyn. They expect you to care just because it's an Irish/Italian romance.
  15. Yeah, the soundtrack is the only aspect of the film I'm genuinely disappointed on. Nothing new has clicked at all after 3 viewings. Even the prequels all had at least one incredible new composition that could stand up to the OT classics (Duel of the Fates, Across the Stars, and Battle of the Heroes). I actually will not be that upset now with Williams not doing VIII. Maybe it is time for some new blood with the music just like it was time for it in regards to directing.
  16. Or probably because a few moments before it started they all realized how much they wished they were seeing TFA instead of JLaw's Miracle Mop Adventure and had a major #FML moment.
  17. That would have made his bit about "the Asian legends being too good to be true" very interesting wording.
  18. I am confused on the cut short lifeline. Wouldn't it only be logical for everyone to use it on question one, so if they get an answer wrong they only lose 1000 points? Am I misunderstanding something?
  19. I could see all three hitting 35-ish that weekend. Could be a very nice January weekend. Either that or TFA has Avatar-esque holds the whole month and nothing else does well.
  20. And it is definitely dead with two other new comedies taking its audience. Good run for awhile though. It is seeming more and more like 95% of movies these days can only have good legs their first month or so and then they bleed TC.
  21. I can't imagine what would have been second in the voting that year if it wasn't Avatar...
  22. How many truths would you rate it, out of a scale of one to tell da?
  23. The Force is stronger than Matt Damon: Live From Nevada. So yes.
