    Agreed, expecting a TDK like hold is impossible but something in that range seems perfectly reasonable.

    I just scrolled through some New York theaters on Fandango. IMAX is extremely popular. IMAX showings are selling out like 2-3 hours in advance. I've seen some sellouts in regular showings as well. This is not a typical Sunday performer.

    That's what I'm saying. Shrek 2, SM3, and TDK were all underestimated by 3-4m on their OW. All 3 films did 50m+ adjusted on Saturday just like THG. It's possible THG enjoys a smilar fate. It wouldn't be wise to rule it out after everything it has done so far.

    Read the rest of the post. I said compared to the other huge OW performers, well except for the Twlight movies. And it's not uncommon for films of this size to overperform thier original projections. Shrek 2's original estimate was 104.3m and it jumped to 108m. SM3 was 148m and it went to 151m. And TDK was 155m and it jumped to 158.4m. A similar fate could be in store for THG.

    155m OW with a pretty steep Sunday drop compared to the other monster OW performers. Yeah I know its March and films tend to fall a little more harshly but I mean this thing just made 51m on Saturday. There has to be some spillover business to help this thing level out.

    Yes, families are a key component of huge Saturday performances. The top 6 adjusted Saturdays consist of two Spidey films, two Shrek films, DMC, and TDK. TDK is the only one that neccesarily didn't have a huge kid factor helping it out. We'll have to see what the demographic breakdown on this in the BOM weekend report.

    3rd highest ticket seller in OW history and the only 2 that beat did absolutely crazy business in their OW. I still can't believe this is happening.

    West coast business must be going strong. I am seeing some 11-11:30 sellouts in some nearby theaters.

    If this 49m is underestimated and it actually ends up being 50m+ then TDK has a very realistic shot at being passed up by this. But if the 49m is accurate then 154-155m sounds about right. Amazing opening either way.

    I really want that to go up to 50m but 49m is still very good. Can this pull a TDK like Sunday hold? Not likely but it can happen if demand can stay this high.

    Nikki better give us something tonight. Saturday numbers usually come late though. Probably not for another 1-2 hours if we're lucky.

    6 films have done 50m+ on a Saturday adjusted. Spider-Man, SM3, Shrek 2, Shrek 3, DMC, and TDK. Sith barely missed it at 49.7m. Right now TDK is the only one that is comparable since the other films didn't have huge midnight numbers on Friday. It's doable but the sellouts have to come but this thing is super saturated with a bunch of showings so it will be hard to know how well its doing in theaters with 30+ showtimes and few sellouts.

    That would be incredible. We need to see a bunch of sellouts to even consider that.

    I don't know dude. An increase while difficult, can very well happen. There have been other films that have maintaiined this type of momentum before.

    Not many sellouts in my area but there weren't many yesterday either. Just too many showings.

    It was a great opening no doubt but it can thank 3D for having the record, for now.

    Actually it can. Matinees will definitely be better today, just depends on how well it does on night shows.

    I'm glad it isn't in 3D. DH2 broke the OW despite being ranked 6th in estimated attendance. Hunger Games doing these kinds of numbers without 3D shows that it belongs with the big boys.
