I don't agree -- I think there are movies that are hugely frontloaded due to their hardcore fanbase. (DH2, for one). Now, SS is obviously pretty mixed in terms of WOM, but I wouldn't say it's absolutely toxic.

Tele, you still agree though that in general a movie that legs it out is way more productive for growing the base and building demand for a franchise right? That's why I used POTC 1, if you want your CBM examples the two easiest are BB & IM1 (I guess we can throw TA in there too & what it did for phase 2).

    Per Deadline:

Now, SS clearly had a pretty interesting first Friday (as seen by the tumble on Saturday), and I'm not sure how useful this is without comparing to other blockbusters. But still, this made me laugh.

Often that total is a massive drop off from OD, but yeah it's funny. Repeat viewings must be really low.

It's a shame that Gibson pretty much destroyed his career with his behaviour. Most directors would dream about having a movie the quality of Braveheart or Apocalypto.

Despite his despised personal infractions, I'd still take that career/$$$ man. It's up there as one of the better ones in recent history.

I'm eating breakfast at a cafe, and these two ladies next to me are talking about how hot Margot Robbie is. One of them is specifically talking about how much she related to Harley in SS.

    Margot Robbie is hot?

I don't care where SS ends up as long as it doesn't cross 300 until after the Labor Day weekend.

Really, though, before the first comic-con footage, who would've thought that SS would outgross MOS?

There clearly are some diehard SS fans so I'd say more than you'd probably think lol. Objective analysis? Maybe not so much.

There's a very big difference between projections and predictions.

Lol so what? He makes a big show of it with his clubs. A prediction should be close to a projection or its just total bs & shouldn't be taken seriously in the future.

Well, that's exactly my point, lol. We shouldn't care. :)

Point is, WB isn't worried about numbers. People shouldn't be, either. I guess I can't say anything else in that regard, lol.

You should flip around your thoughts, if this place isn't concerned about the quality of your numbers then they probably are fine or completely insignificant lol.

9.7 million is a fine number. Movie is performing fine.

If WB isn't sad about it, nobody should. Movie is making money and it'll be profitable in the long haul. :)

Lol this sort of thinking is total nonsense. Why should I care what WB thinks about its own movie or that they are making $? How does that benefit us (or provide better analysis) ESP when the movie isn't that good?
