This could very well be the second JP movie to sit at #2 unadjusted. JP1 reigned at that spot from September 24th, 1993 until February 2nd, 1997. 3 years, 6 months.
Edit: even more interesting trivia - Titanic passed Jurassic Park for #2 first-run gross on the biggest single day of its run, Valentine's Day 1998.
Worst case scenario is 103-109M
Best case is 120M+
$400M 10-day seems pretty locked now.
My projections now ranging from 640-715M, and the low end on that is really just a guess to cover my ass, nothing is indicating its 10-day multi will be lower than 1.60x
It could be almost $50M ahead of Avengers on day 14 if it reaches $100M this weekend.
My projections are still hitting 630-680M. Avatar is safe but TA could easily go down.
All movies launched in mid-June with a 2:1 aspect ratio featuring genetic modification have broken the OW record.
It's a simple formula I don't know why Hollywood hasn't abused it yet.
Yeah I've never seen people using the second parking lot on weekdays. There wasn't a long line at the BO but both Inside Out showings had already started
I'd go a little bit softer on the Friday increase, but not much.
18M Thu
30M Fri (67% increase)
39M Sat
37M Sun = 106M weekend, 402M 10-day
Both still records.
It features a fully functional dinosaur theme park, fulfilling the imagination of everyone that saw Jurassic Park. That is a fantastic hook for a blockbuster, and just as big as having four superheros team up.
250 a day faster than Avengers
300 a day faster than Avengers (I see it coming a few million short of 300 for the 7-day)
350 a day faster than Avengers (won't be any faster than that even if it hits 300 in 7)
400 three days faster than Avengers (I don't see it hitting 400 in 10)
450 two days faster than Avengers
500 four days faster than Avengers (The 30th looks like the date for 500)
I go for LieMAX whenever possible. The sound on standard screens is so poor these days, and if I'm stuck with a 3D showing on a regular screen it's just not very fun.
Jurassic World had some wonderful surround effects, probably the best I can remember at a theater. At home it's a lot easier to notice.
I thought that Keira Knightley was the first to be in two 5-day record breakers, but DMC didn't beat Sith.
Man, ROTS was a beast especially considering it had to follow TPM and AOTC. It looks like it still has the 5-day record for admissions.
