Maybe it’s the result of nonstop SNL YouTube videos that I’ve been watching, but I’m very much excited for this movie largely cause of Bill Hader. Much more so than Chastain and McAvoy (who I both love). Bring on the trailer.

That made it 4th movie ever to break 1B OS-China (after Titanic, Avatar, and TFA). Infinity War came so close!

Really? I thought 67M would be reasonable too, especially with DP guaranteed to bring in bigger number than what IW faced in its 3rd weekend. 9.5M Thur 19M Fri 28.5M Sat 20M Sun 67.5M weekend (-54%)

Even after 2 weekends, my mind still hasn’t processed the 357M number. That or I’m dumb, which is really highly possible lol. It’s ok, he can always relish in the fact that JW remains the only non-Disney movie in Domestic Top 10.

Passed The Avengers in 11 days. Should pass Jurassic World on Wednesday and Titanic on Thursday.

When does DP open? Any pre-sale stats?

Standard drop for Monday. As we had already learned with 357 and 147, EG third weekend will either be 77M or 67M.

A quick look at my local Regal chain, I see that Pikachu is selling well for 2D previews (all theaters I checked have 3-4 preview showings, with 2 being standard 2D). It’s selling pretty good for 7-8PM showings on Friday and Saturday, but are dead for the rest, which set it up well for walk-ups business. I think the big disadvantage of Pikachu at my theaters right now is number of showtimes. At all 5 Regal theaters I looked at, the maximum number of showtimes it got is 5 per day for Fri-Sun frame, counting all formats. Endgame showtimes are not up yet for weekend but its Thursday numbers are 13+ showings so I don’t imagine it’ll go below 10 for the weekend. Will see how Pika’s number of showtimes change over the next few days. For it to increase I think it’ll need to start pre-selling tickets better for matinees and 10PM onwards showings.

That should be doable. Domestic will add around 110-120M Mon-Sun. That leaves 185-195M for all OS markets. Even if China falls off a cliff (which it will), say -90% from last week, that’ll still be 25M from there for Mon-Sun frame. It did roughly 461M OS-China last week by my calculation, so need a drop in the range of 63-70% for 160M-170M OS-China. Very doable. 115M Dom 25M China 160M OS-China 2.5B by Sunday is on target I would say.

Children’s Day holiday in S. Korea. Made 5M there. So $10M just between UK and SK.

I was off by 10M from my $157M target for prayer. Next stop is 77M for third weekend!

The Avengers still in Top 5 of both lists is pretty impressive. Coco getting flanked by Avengers movies on both side in the local currency list is funny. Mighty performance for an animated movie in a single territory, on par or probably more impressive than Frozen in Japan and Zootopia in China (and Coco wasn’t too shabby in China either)

So with domestic actuals, WW total gonna be around 2.195B Not too shabby. Looking forward to your next countdown post!
