I haven't seen the first one so I really have no idea what I missed but this one is kind of silly but really just harmless fun for the kids.  We saw it with 5 kids last night and they loved it so I'll just leave my review at that.  There really wasn't much for adults to like except a few funny lines from Breakfast at Tiffany's and Empire Strikes Bqack.  So I chuckled a few times but nothing more.

The Smurfs 2 manages to top the first one in sheer awfulness, despite additions of Jacob Tremblay and Brendan Gleeson, both of whom are terrible in this. It'd be hard to blame this on Tremblay though, seeing how he was both five-years-old at the time of filming and it was his first film directed by a notoriously awful director. Still, the film doubles down on the awful pop culture jokes of the first film and gives Katy Perry far too big of a dramatic role. The Smurfs 2 is utter trash and not worth its own sheer existence.
