Jungle Book held all time record back then for a hollywood movie if I am not wrong. But that is set in India. I am not surprised by this one flopping in all Asian markets. Japan is the last one still having some hope.

Jungle Book had crazy nostalgia. There was a very very famous animated Jungle Book show in the 90s on Doordarshan with an even more famous title track called Jungle Jungle which every 90s kid remembers. Disney used that song in the promos and hit the right nostalgia beats.

 

The animated show was from Japan, not even Disney.

 

On the other hand, Little Mermaid animated show was an afterthought compared to Duck Tales and Talespin.

Jungle Book is basically more Indian movie than English lol.

Spider-Verse doing insanely well in Hyderabad for opening day. Almost every major screen is full/close to it (orange on BMS) and adding lots of new show. The largest theatres are upto 9-10 shows after this for the day now.

Need to see how the legs for the rest of the weekend are.
