8. THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE- 107 points

The 2003 remake earned 107M WW on a 9.5M budget with Michael Bay producing and was one of Jessica Biel's first roles. It received generally negative reviews from critics [38% on RT] but crowds flocked to it and most enjoyed it but the prequel was generally hated by most people. This is the 2nd film on the list to start a trend. It was the first in a long line of remakes of 70's and 80's horror films.

Nominated for 18 awards with 7 wins including best movie and choice movie: thriller. It is one of the only films on this list [maybe the only one] to be nominated for a razzie. It was nominated for worst remake or sequel

im really sorry but im going have to delay the whole reveal till tomorrow [and that might not be possible]. I have got 2 essays and a project. I've also got to revise for 3 tests. It is typical that this is the most homework I have ever got

Only 1 of 2 for today

6. THE RING- 128 points

I thought this was going to win [and it was at one point]. The 2002 remake of Ringu held on fantastically at the US Box Office after opening to 15M and finishing with 129M. Also a good reception especially from fans and critics as well [71% on RT]. It also started a trend of people remaking Japanese horrors into English language films [the grudge, dark water etc.]. Following it was it's critically hated sequel. This was also one of Gore Verbrinski's first films and Naomi Watts 1st film after Mulholland Drive.

Nominated for 17 awards including 11 awards. Some of the awards include ones for Naomi Watts, best horror, and one at the teen choice awards for choice: horror or thriller

5. CABIN IN THE WOODS- 138 points

The 2012 horror starring Chris Hemsworth is a surprisingly high entry on this list after an average reception [from crowd but exceptional reviews from critics with 92% on RT] and ok high box office. Its even more of a shock that it's above the Ring [and it's another film that was top at one time]. It was named on Metacritics top films of the year and goodwill about this film grew a few months after release. This proves delaying a film a few years isn't always poison

Nominated for 21 awards with 8 wins including horror and screenplay wins. It was also nominated at load of festivals such as Toronto and San Diego film critics

4. SAW- 139 points

The 2004 Halloween franchise starter is another film that was top at one point. It grossed a good amount at the box office and in recent years it is known as a horror classic and a beloved film by horror fans. It got middling critical reviews [48% on RT which is the best of the series that got 6 sequels]. It was one of the most profitable horror films since Scream. It was originally rated NC-17. It also got comparisons to Se7en.

Nominated for 13 awards including 5 wins which were all for James Wan

3. 28 DAYS LATER- 153 points

The last fully horror film on this list, the film was a surprise hit in America and earned 80M WW on a 5M budget. It also has fantastic reviews from fans and critics alike [88% on RT]. This is another film that has grown in popularity. It received sequel 28 weeks later in 2007. This was one of the first film roles for Cillian Murphy [the scarecrow] and Naomie Harris [moneypenny]. This was Danny Boyle's fifth film. This film looks like it has deservedly placed third as it was overlooked at first.

Nominated for 35 awards including 10 wins for Danny Boyle, best horror and Best British film

2. ZOMBIELAND- 220 points

Now this is where the close gaps between films stopped with a whopping 67 points separating 2 and 3. The 2009 zombie horror comedy film was well received [90% on RT] and is one film that was not thought of as too funny to be scary or too scary to be funny. It is the second biggest zombie grossing film ever after World War Z. It earned 102M WW including 75M from the TV. A possible sequel has been rumoured while a TV series failed with Amazon ordering no more episodes than the pilots.

Nominated for 14 awards including 5 wins for music, Woody Harrelson [x2], Jesse Eisenberg and Ruben Fleischer
