ITALY (Botteghino): 'Kung Fu Panda 4' becomes biggest 2024 film

Recommended Posts

In one of the lowest saturday ever at boxoffice (about 750K€ top ten combined), Maleficent passes 10M€. It is the 2nd Hollywood movie to reach this mark in 2014 after Wolf of WS. It seems could have good legs thanks to interesting WOM and low competition in next weeks.

World cup here is largely the most attended event ever, not only for soccer lovers but for all the people. Especially if the "Azzurri" works well, it is followed by boys, girls, kids, men and women of all the ages. Also, yesterday match (Italy-England) was very actractive.

Good sunday for Maleficent, it now ranks #3 of 2014 and could easily reach #1 in next weeks if World Cup effect don't will be so strong. Legend of Oz opens in 2th this weekend with lacking numbers and confirm the negative performance of animated this year (even if it bombed everywhere) . Dragon 2 will be able to stop this trend?

Quiet Thursday because people were watching England-Uruguay, those teams are in the same group than Italy. The Other Woman opened in second. It looks like Maleficent will win its fourth weekend. It stands at $15.7m right now. Today is going to be a quiet Friday because Italy plays at 6 PM (local time). Let's see how the weekend goes!!

The Other Woman opens near the zero, 13K admissions, despite its potential audience should be the one less interested in world cup. Maleficent resists but its numbers are always lower, and a movie break the top ten with only 1666 tickets sold. Today a very poor weekend starts, world cup and good weather, lethal combination of factors for cinemas. We'll see.

10 GOOOL! (METEGOL)               €  92.695 Adm  16.499

As predicted World Cup and hot weather killed the boxoffice in this weekend. Maleficent hold first spot for the 4th time in a row (a rare exception here) but the numbers are near to zero. For the rest each comment is useless.

Mal about to become #1 for 2014, hope it gets there by the end of the week.

I think for sure will become #1 foreign live action in season 2013/2014 (The Hobbit 2 is at €12.792.760) and #4 global behind Sole a Catinelle, Frozen and Desplicable Me 2. The first two are totally out of reach while for the 15,9M€ of DM2 there is still a 1% chanche (if Italy is out of World Cup tomorrow.....)
