John Marston
does the success of The Monuments Men show critics don't really matter as much as we think? Since it opened decently and has good legs. And it is a movie appealing to the type of people you think would read reviews

BadAtGender
does the success of The Monuments Men show critics don't really matter as much as we think? Since it opened decently and has good legs. And it is a movie appealing to the type of people you think would read reviews I think it's possibly more a genre thing. A period war film has a certain audience that will go for it and can be successful, regardless of quality. So long as there aren't too many films of that genre, the market will never get overwhelmed and they can all do fairly well. Westerns are another that probably work like that. grim22
Lego didn't have the fairly leggy run that was being predicted. Especially considering that there was not a lot of competition for the family audience. Very very good box office run though, but slightly disappointing after the first weekend when it looked like it would challenge the 300M mark. iceroll
Well Peabody and Sherman isn't exactly really light competition either. Lego had great holds until it opened, and had almost a 50% drop, much worse than when it was coming off a Valentine's and President's Day holiday boost.
