Somewhere the Nolanite Signal is going off, and then when they realize who the Chris actually is they'll sigh and moan and go back to their cave to play Parcheesi

Brilliant. I just realized what the bond between #Ed and Tele is. This explains so much.

And subconsciously they know, Tobey Maguire is a hell of a kisser. :P

True but if Transformers 1 was poorly sound mixed its gross would be alot less, Im not sure about the kissing thing.

And before you argue im wrong its been proven time and time again by science that sound is much more important to a persons level of attention than visuals.

Rival studios dispute Par's B.O. results

Paramount’s “The Out-of-Towners” was out of third place after final weekend box office results were reported Monday.

The studio reported a $5 million weekend gross — down about 6% from its Sunday estimate of $5.3 million — for the Steve Martin-Goldie Hawn starrer. That put the pic in fourth place, about $40,000 behind BuenaVista’s sophomore teen comedy “10 Things I Hate About You.”

(BV reported a weekend gross of $5.049 million on “10 Things,” down 3% from the Sunday estimate.)

But even Par’s revised number was met with skepticism by rival distributors and independent box office analysts, who insisted the Sam Weisman-helmed remake actually came in several hundred thousand dollars lower still.

Either way, the picture — which cost roughly $40 million to make — isn’t working. With $16.2 million in the till after 10 days, according to Par, the pic is on track to finish its domestic run with just over $30 million.

Only Paramount toppers know for sure the actual weekend grosses for their own films. However, competing distributors and exhibitors all receive reports detailing box office revenues for about 80% of North American theaters from ACNielsen EDI.

By applying historical data and certain well-established formulas to the reported numbers, it’s possible to extrapolate with a fairly high degree of accuracy the value of the unreported theaters (known in distribution circles as the “missings”).

Since the missings tend to consist of smaller chains and independent theaters in smaller markets, their per screen averages are typically between 65% and 75% of theaters reported by EDI.

But rival distribs pointed out that in order for Paramount’s numbers to be accurate, the missings on “Out-of-Towners” would have had to equal or exceed the reported grosses on Friday and Saturday.

Paramount vice chairman Rob Friedman stood by the studio’s numbers, noting they were based on information not available to its rivals.

It’s hardly the first time a Hollywood studio has been accused of fudging its numbers. But what has rival execs scratching their heads is what possible advantage Paramount could hope to gain by such minor exaggerations on a film that already is clearly a disappointment.

Warner Bros.’ “The Matrix” and 20th Century Fox’s “Never Been Kissed” actually slightly exceeded Sunday’s estimates, grossing $22.6 million and $11.8 million, respectively.

Not gonna argue...I'm huge on sound and musical score making films more enjoyable than most other aspects. But that doesn't mean I'm not gonna make fun of the fact that an absolutely horrible film like PH won an Oscar...of any kind.

Paramount has an obvious culture of "saving face" by any means necessary.

And a pattern for Paramount is beginning to develop.
