The Divergent sequel collected $12.3M globally from its domestic Thursday preview and overseas openings. Stateside, The Divergent Series: Insurgent grossed an estimated $4.1M last night. That figure will be rolled into Friday’s haul. Overseas, the screen adaptation of the Veronica Roth novel minted $8.2M through yesterday. Here’s the highlights:

France up 127%

Netherlands up 78%

Belgium up 54%

Italy up 23%

Malaysia up 116%

New Zealand up 43%

Philippines up 38%

After seeing the previews number,I am thinking low 40M OW and a total just over 100M.

The top Divergent market,France, is also No. 1 onInsurgent. SND is handling the release in the Hexagon where book sales have been particularly strong. Now with$2.5M through Friday, Insurgentis 71% up over the previous movie on a U.S. dollar basis. The final tally the first time around was $12.4M in the market.

Behind France is the UK now with $1.6M. Australia is at $1.3M through Friday followed by CIS ($1.1M) and Mexico($1M). The latter is up 22% over Divergent.
