Maya Deren's shorts, especially Meshes of the Afternoon and At Land. Most of Lynch's work obviously. Last Year in Marienbad. Persona, if it counts.

i'm not into this kind of movie

 

i really disliked last year in marienbad, i tried Derek Jarman's Angelic Conversation and it was also awful

i kinda like Holy Mountain, not sure of what to think about the ending, though, i need to rewatch it

and Mind Game is also good

 

I see you mentioned The Girl Who leapt Through Time, I love this one, but i'm not sure if I would count it as experimental or surreal

Haven't seen Derek Jarman's Angelic Conversation. Will check it out.

 

There are quite a lot of sci-fi movies I put on the list because I thought they were different. This is just a random list I accumulated over 14+ years, so don't expect everything to fit the criteria lol

I was watching Waking Life with my daughter yesterday and still find it very thought provoking. And the visuals are trippy and oddly beautiful.

There was this French (iirc) movie I saw in psychology class called The Diving Bell And The Butterfly. I didn't love it but I enjoyed its ambition, and it certainly had a very surreal and experimental vibe to it, even if I felt like its execution wasn't the best.

I loved that movie. Actually it is one of my favorite movies from last decade.
