I still think you're overstating the appeal based solely off Batman, and forgetting that spin-offs usually don't do as well.

It wasn't unreasonable to expect.  Every single major Batman movie adjusts to over 200M.  Hell, even Batman and Robin adjusts to that, and an 80M OW.  Making it animated makes it different how?  Lego Movie just made the crossover appeal between geeks and families even greater.  Everything about the move seemed poised to break out, but it just kind of seems to be doing decent numbers and coming & going.

Honestly @Telemachos, you're like the greatest guy on here but you really need to stop with the cynicism for all the animated/kids-targeted films.  I still remember when the record-shattering Finding Dory Thursday numbers came out and you were trying to downplay the hell out of its performance :depp:.

I'm not trying to be cynical, I just generally think people get too optimistic with predictions and extrapolations (usually for movies they're excited about and/or love). I'm as guilty as anyone.

It's usually more interesting or compelling for me to pick the Under -- often because it seems most go the other way.

I'm sure I'll like LB when I see it. I also liked LEGO MOVIE.

The true test to Lego's staying power will be Lego Movie Sequel in 2019.

Honestly, my hype for it really took a hit with the news of Mike Mitchell's involvement. I'm starting to get the sense that Warner just wants a dependable revenue stream out of the franchise.

^sorry that is my last one.  I am having a HELL of a time with excel.  I just want to get this right.  I basically made this entire thing to post a tracking of Why Him? and that I hope it increases big on Valentine's Day.  LOL.   feel free to write about 10 paragraphs on Why Him's performance if you feel like it.

Yes, LEGO makes it different.

It appeals to a very certain audience.

Their style of humor can be off-putting. I liked the LEGO Movie when it first came out, but there was something off about it.

There was no uniqueness to it compared to the original LEGO Movie. The references were for people who had already seen those films, based off comments I've read on it.

It just has very limited appeal. Not hard to understand.

Mitchell directing it doesn't really concern me especially after seeing Trolls, which was vividly bright and colorful.  Exactly what a Lego Movie needs.  The real test of these movies for me mostly depends on their script.  And considering Lord and Miller both worked on the script and a writer from Bojack Horseman, I have no doubts about the script being good.

Cause you tend to dislike good movies .

Well, in terms of animated movies, the odds of me going by myself to one are essentially zero. (Only possibilities might be something like a Studio Ghibli import with rave reviews or an even rarer adult-oriented one like AKIRA or something). But as the parent of a small child, I know I'm going to be seeing a good amount of them sooner or later.

So I take it Tele Jr. is dragging you to Rock Dog, then.
