SOMA

 

Who'd have thunk one of the most emotional and intense character driven films of the year would be a movie where one character is essentially trapped in a robot body for most of the film and the other character is essentially a disembodied voice. Atmosphere and tension are king in this riveting movie.

If instead of solid but unspectacular unknowns we had gotten actual actors cast for the leads, and if the epilogue had been able to breathe a little more for a complete resolution, this would be #1
