Every time a person on the internet says "So, someone has  to flaunt their orientation to be representation?", I'm going to throw this movie in their face.

 

It's not about one man coming to terms with being gay, it's about a dude who's a fuckup, learning not to treat people and moments as disposable through a romance. 

 

And it's surprisingly engaging to watch. I'm tempted to compare it in some ways to The Handmaiden, which was very elaborate and winding and this is just...simple. They're both immersive in a different way.

I preferred it to call me by you name. It was a simpler, more honest movie and I sympathised with the characters more. CMBYN was a technically better movie, but sometimes all that Oscar chasing gets in the way.

It's not really just brokeback mountain with a happy ending, but I don't mind thinking of it that way.

Glad to have found this little gem, really great.
