Avengers Infinity War - 10%

I'm adding 80%.

So I should end up with 90% total for Infinity War.

@Simionski

@grey ghost

Hey guys, was wondering whats your opinion on this game ... is too complicated ?  we are now the only 3 players still playing.  @chasmmi hasn't made an investment since December and he is the only other player outside of us 3 who is still earning anything on a weekly basis.

I like the game generally but maybe it's too simple or too complicated ?  Should look at a cutover and convert the game into something simpler to try get interest going again.... I think it's too easy to earn $ at the moment way to easy!

Maybe go down the following path :

1. Movies are available 1 month out still.

2. 100% max investment  (lets return to simplicity... ie. not 2 copies available any more)

3. invest in  lots of 10% only

3. Return to the best in best dressed (no more of the calculated stuff I've been using lately) scenario

4. pick particular films which are big blockbusters (we will identify in advance) and put a max of 50% investment in said films.

.. I do like the budget rule however and it's almost like whoever shot the film, is trying to sell so they are discounting the film to get an investment in it.  I'd propose to simplify to 1 week ahead of release if the film has no investment it drops to 50% of the proposed budget.

If we restart midyear to try and reingivigourate the game... we all start with 50m (yes  I know this makes it hard to invest but the  current game is dieing......

OR

Leave things as they are and hope we get some more interest in the game ?  As you are the only players I thought it best to ask... at the moment the way things are, we all get a piece of the pie right  now as there are so few of us making the game a little well boring at times.

I'm willing to put a more general post up in the main forum (in the thread we have running there) to this effect if the 3 of us agree on a change.. or should I just hold it together to year end ?

1) I think the game is pretty great.

2) I'm unsure how your suggestions make the game more fun.

3) You definitely need to ask people who were loyal players but quit the game for whatever reason. For example, I remember CJohn was pissed about a new rule from early last year. I suggest via PM.

4) My suggestion is to increase the amount of money everyone has. Maybe 200 m to start. Also, increase the amount of people can invest 100%. So maybe offer 400% for each movie. (These give players more freedom and makes the game easier in the beginning). And get rid of loopholes that can give people a huge advantage. For example, the budget should drop for RPO but dropping 50% and allowing only one person to invest 100% is a frustrating and has too much impact on the game.

While my suggestions seem like a free for all, people still have be very selective regarding what they invest in because of the 300% investment limit. This is the most important limitation and why people need to be strategic.

If you agree with my suggestions, ask past players if they do also and ask them why they quit.

Anyway I think the game is great and is run efficiently. I fully support your efforts to increase the mass appeal and make the game even more fun.

I agree with @grey ghost on almost all points except the budget drops.

I think that the current setup is great and allows for good strategies. Maybe just restrict the maximum investment one can make proportionally with the budget cuts. When the budget is 75% one person can take a maximum of 75%, and when he budget is 50% he/she can take a maximum of 50%.

I believe the game is great with its current setup maybe slight tweeks can be made. Perhaps it could be better advertised like the Derby for a month to get some players on board?

Also to say again that I really appreciate what you are doing for the game @JJ-8 so big thanks for all of your hard work.

I'm think your budget drop suggestions are fair (50% drop means only a 50% max investment available).

Sorry, I'm still getting my time together so was late to reply here.

The biggest problem I think this game has is being a year long. (people drop out of / avoid Summer/Winter game because it is too long and that is only 19 weeks).

If you have a February/March that I had where forum access just was not a thing I really had, you basically are out of the game and there is no way to really come back in, in a competitive way until the following year.

I wish I had a suggested fix for this to offer too :)  Maybe two seasons a year with a break between each season?

Ok here is a new set of proposed rules :-

@chasmmi @grey ghost @Simionski

Game is reset (I don't quite see the point in continuing right now, as Chas pointed out, it's too hard to enter mid year)  ~ Still deciding which weekend the reset happens on

(I'll still count out what has happened this year but end the game as it stands based on our current investments up to and including the last few investments.)

(I'm thinking the new game will start the weekend post Memorial weekend but still playing around in my head)

Proposed set of rules

  1. Everyone starts with 250m in the bank
  2. There is only 100% available per film.
  3. Max investment per player is 70%.
    1. 2 Weeks prior to release  and no investment has been made, this is reduced to 50% max
    2. 1 week prior to release and no investment has been made, this is reduced to 30% max
    3. 1 day prior to release and no investment has been made, this is put  to 100% max
    4. If "1 Player" has invested inside 2 weeks from investment (under the  above rules), then  that player (and  only that player) may choose to invest too 100% now.  If someone does invest then this rule DOES NOT apply.
  4. BUDGET updates as follows:
    1. 4 weeks (first available) = 100% of game budget
    2. 2 weeks prior to release and no investment made Game budget = 75% of game budget
    3. 1 week prior to release and no investment made Game budget = 50% of original game budget
  5. Best in Best dressed, no more auctions or splitting the  film up.. you get what you purchase assuming its available.
  6. 300% rules remains as is.  wide releases are what matters

Any other ideas ?

I think right before November is a good time to start the game.

It gives time to build up anticipation for one of the peak movie seasons and a reboot of the game.

What do you think?
