I know to an extent many movies do this, but it's remarkable how these continue to be the purest form of capturing a pop culture moment in a very specific time for an animated movie. 

 

Besides the basic moral, there is no timeless quality to this film.

 

Everything is based upon current trends in marketing (Note the style changes at some points; It's very reminiscent of a lot of companies trying to play to Gen Z/younger, with very thin lines, almost exaggerated facial features, and neon colors. The background characters in Mount Rageous are things teens and younger wear today).

There's also the question of what the hell is this planet and how are sentient human like beings like 10 times the size of trolls.

 

I don't say this to be derisive; I'm genuinely impressed. Trends change so quickly, how did they do it!
