Fullbuster
Total Recall added $2.3m in the second weekend in Russia from 1,100 for $10.6m ; The Expendables 2 grossed a mighty $7.9m from 750 in Russia. Ice Age 4 cume is 47.8m. Less than expected for The Expendables 2 But the number isn't so bad.Conversely we can forget the $20m mark for this movie with such an OW, $16-17m is the target now.I hope a good hold for Ted. Fullbuster
IRONY OF FATE 2 is missing from that top. It's a Russian comedy that made $50m during 2007-08 New Year holidays.Sorry I forgot it! :/

Rudolf
If The Hobbit makes less than $50m,it would be a disapponment. Fantasy, 3D and best release date of the year should mean not only a huge opening, but also legs.

Jake Gittes
ROTK was the highest grossing movie ever in Russia at one point. Make no mistake, the trilogy is very well known and very much beloved.

Are you sure it's not screens? For Russia I'm sure it concerns screens. o_oToo much screens in a country like Ukraine, this country is too poor and the loss of population is really striking.Conversely Russia needs more screens (I remember it's about 2,400 in 2011), Hollywood movies will need it to pass Avatar, and too much on these screens in the Moscow area. Fullbuster
in this http://www.culturalp...ine.php?aid=821it says Ukraine had 13,300 cinemas in 1996Certainly a mistake...That would be more than the US with a much smaller population, they certainly talk of screens, not cinemas. Rudolf
as most of these would have 1 screen only, it would not make much difference
Fullbuster
I guess you're right.I can see an ongoing decrease in Ukraine because it's still too much cinemas for this country, and the economic situation there isn't good.
lab276
That's really bizarre, how could there only be 136 cinemas in Russia in 2001? That can't be true.
Fullbuster
These stats are probably wrong, this is the last stats from Juni : SCREENS AND THEATERS IN RUSSIA ---->By 31.12.2011 2726 modern screens in 928 theaters. 1472 digital and 1434 3D. 19 IMAX.
