Among openers, Life had the edge over Lommbock and Power Rangers, but both Hollywood releases stayed below expectations. Next weekend: Some new releases with potential - The Lost City of Z rather not, but I expect some nice numbers for Ghost in the Shell and especially The Boss Baby (Germany loves shitty CGI …) - #1 however should be Beauty again. And as we saw this weekend with Rammstein, concert movies can sell a lot of seats, so The Rolling Stones Olé Olé Olé should be able to make the Top10 at least.
IndustriousAngel
Friday estimates from insidekino.de: #1: BatB - 350k (-30%) #2: BossBaby - 325k (including some previews afaik) #3: Ghost - 200k #4/5: Life / Lommbock 75k each (that would be a healthy increase for the domestic comedy)
el sid
Some Thursday actuals (source Blickpunkt:Film): New releases: The Boss Baby: 20k (released in 611 theaters, ok and good reviews, much better than in the USA) Ghost in the Shell: 30k (531, mixed reviews between 3 and 8/10) A United Kingdom: 2.5k (141, some mediocre but mostly good reviews) → 30k admissions predicted so far Holdovers: BatB: 40k (last Thursday 60k) Life: 7.5k (15.5k) Lommbock : 7k (12.5k) A better first trend than I feared. Sunshine the whole day in the south yesterday and mixed according to the weather report in the north. Therefor GitS, Boss Baby and BatB are not doing bad at all. How the weekend weather will be is unclear. One weather forecast page sees clouds and rain in Germany on Saturday, the other, wetter.de, which was right for Bavaria the last days says there will be mostly sunshine in Germany...at least Sunday is congruent said to be worse.

IndustriousAngel
Sadly, most releases a bit down from first estiamtes (well, that Lommbock number was too good to be true anyway) - GitS below my expectations but the weekend seems slow anyway. 4 hours ago, Aristis said: Häschenschule 30k (about the same as last week!) I thought the start last weekend a little premature with easter weekend so far away, so a good hold is not that surprising - it might even see increases over easter holidays! Among openers, The Boss Baby did about what I expected while Ghost in the Shell stayed behind expectations. Beauty and the Beast crossed 2mil total without problems and is on its way to well beyond 3mil, hopefully overtaking Fifty Shades 2 which is already up there. Next weekend: The F&F franchise had an upwards trend so it's a very safe bet Fast & Furious 8 will be #1 - the question is how high it can go, even with good weather 600k OW should be the lowest treshold. Sequelmania: The third Smurfs movie hits theaters; it's been a few years but nr. 1 and 2 were mildly successful too, both counting between 2,5 and 3mil admissions total - so #2 for the weekend is highly probable. Other interesting releases include the latest Dany Boon comedy Radin!, Free Fire, domestic release Tiger Girl, The Shack, and there's even a re-release of Battle Royale. Overall a very crowded weekend!

You're right, so Smurfs will be on top I guess! btw, The Austrian Film Institut was exceptionally quick this time, March numbers are in and it's been a terrible one (just like January). But with the strong February numbers, our 1st quarter was NOT the worst in recent history (barely).

el sid
You could say that only tomorrow is a weekday this week and that the "weekend" is starting with Fast 8 on Tuesday 23:59. Reservations look ok though they could improve a little bit. But the weather is favorable next week. Exactly as from Tuesday it's said to be changeable, colder and rainy. Ok, not so pleasant for people how planned a trip over Easter but great for films. Friday – Karfreitag – is a legal holiday here and the Easter holidays have in some states already started, will start in most states tomorrow and in the rest during the next week.
