Among openers, After Ever Happy was just a bit lower than ist predecessors (and will probably fizzle out just as quickly), but Känguru-Verschwörung was way way lower than the first Känguru-movie, there's a possibility it will end up with a lower total than the first one's OW. Among holdovers, Guglhupfgeschwader has now crossed 1mil total, it's still 10-15% ahead of its predecessors in the series so chances are excellent we'll see a new record! Minions 2 is still the most popular family release, 4mil total might become difficult but it will come a lot closer than expected after the OW! Crawdads had an excellent hold but coming from a depressed OW that's too little. And Maverick keeps flying on … In Austria, the Känguru movie came in much lower (as was to be expected, culturally, northern Germany is far far away). Otoh, Guglhupfgeschwader is still doing ok and actually beat After Ever Happy for #1, the fourth week in the lead for the Bavarian crime comedy! Minions 2 was >10k admissions once more and Maverick is on its way to 600k total, unbelievable! Next weekend: I guess the "biggest" opener will be domestic comedy Freibad which will have a hard time entering the Top5, so everything's clear for holdovers (After Ever Happy will still drop steeply, if it follows the prior releases). Weather is difficult to predict, but it seems most areas will be pretty dry so probably not a good weekend for the movies overall as people will probably try to use the last summer evenings for outdoor activities. 3
IndustriousAngel
Opening day, and at my theater, there's a surprisingly strong evening for Three Thousend Years of Longing ... the strongest sellers however are holdovers Guglhupfgeschwader and the third Qu'est-ce qu'on ... movie, the french comedy is showing some legs!
IndustriousAngel
first estimates for Germany's weekend rom insidekino.de don't look good at all ... not a single release >100k admissions, that's pathetic. After Ever Happy, Minions2 and Känguru are head-to-head with 80-90k each; Crawdads and Guglhupf on #4 and 5 (at least for Minions2, that would be one more super hold)

Do you know what Broly did as comparison? about €10/ticket I'd say (there are 4DX shows for Dragonball which are much more expensive but the market share should be small) Broly's opening day were about 75k admissions in Germany, pretty massive! Those "anime nights" are becoming a real factor for cinemas, especially as they're pulling an audience in mid-week

And despite no big openers, there were still sizeable drops. Austria's weekend was even worse with steeper drops (although, for many releases, from a higher level). The one positive release was Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, some years ago, those were strictly "anime nights" and while most admissions still happen midweek, those releases are now approaching something like a normal run, Dragon Ball even made it in the Top10 for the weekend! Next weekend: Again, no big openers, and the weather should be cooler, so hopefully a lot of fine holds and maybe even some increases? 2

I hope the "Kinofest" (with Tickets for 5€ on Saturday and Sunday) has some positive effect on the admission numbers. It's a first for Germany, as far as I know, so I hope for a success - even though there's hardly any advertising.

Ok, for the last months, Austria was pulling ahead, but the situation is still far from satisfying.
