Next weekend, there's no really wide release again - for families, "Der 7bte Zwerg" ("seventh dwarf") sounds like a flop but who knows. Domestic cybercrime thriller "Who Am I" looks like a decent success - it isn't opening that wide (430 theaters) but since there's not much competition, and depending on SexTape's drop, it's entirely possible it wins the weekend! "This Is Where I Leave You" gets 300 theaters.
el sid
The advance booking for "Who Am I" looks very bad at the moment but the film gets a good WOM, we will see. If boxofficemojo doesn't report the German Top 40 (like this week, but I think this is extremly rarely), you can find at least the Top 25 (weekly admissions and the total admissions of a film) here: wulfmansworld.com/Kino/Charts/Kino_Charts_der_Woche.

el sid
And you'r eright about "Who Am I", presales are terrible, at least at my theater. atm it's looking worse than SinCity2 And the situation didn't improve much . For tomorrow, around 100 tickets are sold or reservated at 'my' cinema at the moment (all shows together!). Much worse than SC2. Surprising to me considering Elyas M' Barek is supposed to be a big draw here. I would say that's right and I'm pretty sure "Männerhort" (for which I saw lots of commercials) will be a hit next week (clever timing by the way ). But perhaps this time people just don't know that this film starts or that M'Barek is in it or they don't know what its title means or shall mean.

The second weekend trend says around 80k admissions this weekend. But I don't know if this is a good hold. At least SC2 has a good hold with around 50k admissions (-35%). SC2's total after weekend 2 is still lower than the original's opening weekend. QecqoafaBD remains strong and has now crossed 30mil US$ in Austria#Germany combined. While it took the 2014 lead in admissions, it's still lagging 3D monster T4 - here's the combined chart for Austria + Germany 2014: 1 Transformers 4 PPI/UPI $ 42.147.674 3D 2 The Wolf of Wall Street UPI $ 34.495.624 3 Qu'est-ce qu'on a fait au Bon Dieu? GotG will catch "Vaterfreuden". Next weekend, domestic comedy "Männerhort" will open to #1 but the real question is if it can leg it the same way "Fack Ju Göhte" did last year. Two other releases are going rather wide: "Gone Girl" and "Dracula Untold" - presales for Dracula look healthy (for a production without starpower) while atm Fincher's latest seems to bellyflop. In the YA genre "The Giver" gets a modest release in about 250 theaters, as does french family film "Les Vacances du Petit Nicolas". "Le Petit Nicolas" was a blockbuster in France but failed to do much business in Germany (less than 400k admissions total), and I really have no idea how much "The Giver" can do but I don't expect much. So, overall a very crowded weekend which will be interesting to watch!
IndustriousAngel
Opening night for the new releases and - surprise - they don't cannibalise each other - in fact, "Männerhort", "Dracula Untold" and "Gone Girl" might come in #1, 2 and 3 for the weekend - verrry nice! el sid
The trend reports are the job of IndustriousAngel but I can tell you that almost everything improved (a lot), only Männerhort stays at 300k. What surprises me the most is Dracula Untold (now 250k). Saw Gone Girl yesterday in the biggest room of my cinema (it changed place with Männerhort) and it was almost sold out. IndustriousAngel
Been in the mountains so no time (nor net) to post, ty! I'm most surprised by "Gone Girl" because of poor presales, and that "Who Am I" stays flat in week 2 - that's really incredible for a thriller. IndustriousAngel
Dracula!!! I like that number too but that was not completely unexpected ... both "Snow White" and "H&G" opened a bit higher iirc, so there's definitely interest in established fantasy characters. Let's wait for week 2 if it really catches with Germany's audience. But at least it's opening higher than "Hercules" so at least off to a very good start!
