R$5.8M is a good number though. It made R$36.5M in the weekend...so Monday would be roughly 16% of the weekend number.  I am not super familiar with what the local conditions are (summer holidays or not) but for comparison, Barbie did $15M at domestic BO on Monday which was also exactly 16.1% of it's weekend domestic BO number ($93M).

Some more data about Barbie:

- From the first 7 days, the profits from theaters grew 89.7% compared to the same period last year. This considers not just box office but also the sales of popcorn, candies, drinks, etc

- From the tickets, the grow was of 193.3% compared to the same period

- Malls also saw better moviment thanks to Barbie compared to the previous week, an overall grow of 6.2%. The main highlights were the segments of Recreation and Leisure (+22.2%) and Food (+21.6%), as well as Specialized Food Retail and Clothing also grew, respectively, 12.7% and 4.2%

- The Southeast and North regions were the ones that most moved malls at the film's premiere, registering a respective increase of 6.8% and 6.5%. Next comes the South (5.9%), Northeast (5.3%) and Midwest (4.5%)

In other words, Barbie is genuinely helping the brazilian economy...

Blue Beetle started it's pre-sales today. In my city 6 tickets were sold today, compared to 9 of TLM, 14 of Flash and 47 of Spiderverse. I have seen more videos of Bruna Marquezine promoting the movie going viral than the promotionals of Flash. If you ask me, chances of breaking out do exist, but are highly dependent of positive reactions.

But yeah I ain't gonna play around and say it is a good start. It was not, not even close.

Thought to clarify just because I saw people sharing it on Reddit before someone come over here, no, Blue Beetle is not selling out, it was a meme. We will have to wait if things ramp up the last week but right now it is still slow. In my city sales T-10 are at 33, it improved but no signs of breaking out just yet.

Box office sold R$39.2M this weekend on top of 1.76M tickets.

I get being disapointed with Barbie, despite still making a lot of money every week, is not showing the same legs as other regions. Unfortunately the very crowded space is taking a tool on it. But even so, it have passed Age of Ultron and it is now the 6th best selling movie of all time. We will see if it can beat Avatar 2 (R$226M) for a spot in the top 5.

Oppenheimer however, is showing some seriously impressive legs, it will soon beat Dark Knight Rises (R$55M) as the top selling Nolan movie and it will knock out Quantumania from this year's top 10. Meg 2 also had an impressive launch, beating the launch of the first movie and I really didn't see that one coming.

The rest of the list's legs weren't as impressive as the end of school break's effect is starting to become more evident. Haunted Mansion had a huge drop and Slam Dunk failed to chart.

Next weekend releases Asteroid City, Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey, The Mean One, Cats in the Museum and Spinning Gold.

Thanks to the Barbenheimer we have a new best month of the year and just so a new leader. August 2022 was the second worst month from that year, with the holdovers this month shouldn't have trouble passing that either.

Sound of Freedom received a release date of september 21, same weekend as Expendables 4 and Nosso Sonho. Curiously it was that weekend last year were it happened the first Cinema Week, if they are predicting it will happen again it could be a pretty big release for it.

Barbie have passed the 10M admissions. It should beat R$200M this weekend.

More on that, Barbie made until wednesday R$193.8M and 10.1M admissions. It is the highest grossing movie from Warner on the box office, from the admissions though so far the record still belongs to The Towering Inferno (10.37M), from way back of 1975.

Oppenheimer made another R$1M until wednesday.
