Mexico Box Office | Planet of the Apes is king with $6.4M OW; good holds for Garfield and Challengers

Recommended Posts

Screendaily: DM3 is number one on $13.5m and a 74% market share.

That's around 209M lc 3-day and 240M lc 4-day OW, just in line with the estimates. The 3-day opening was 7.7% higher than DM2 and it's the 10th highest ever, between JW and IM3. More details with actuals tomorrow.

JUNE 29-JULY 02. DESPICABLE ME 3 TOPS THE CHART AND WONDER WOMAN PASSES 400M LC

Going ahead the estimates and opening at 4,300 screens made a 4-Day Opening of $255.5M lc ($14.1M USD) and a 3-Day Opening of $224.06M lc ($12.4M USD), enough to be the 7th biggest opening ever. Next weekend, Gru faces the menace of the most known and loved hero in Mexico: Spider-Man on what seems to be a fight for being #1 of the summer (Derbez is the king so far) and probably of the year. Kids are out of school until July 25th, still, weekdays will be strong for this film. Won't get as high as Minions or Toy Story 3 but definitely has a shot joining them at TOP 3 animated, to reach that milestone should pass Ice Age 4 ($618M).

  WKND/TOTAL (LC) TOTAL (USD)
Despicable Me 3 $255,5/$255,5 $14,1
Cars 3 $17,7/$256,18 $14
Baywatch $13,43/$128,67 $7,1
Wonder Woman $9,44/$404,65 $22,3
The Mummy $8,73/$226,8 $12
Everything, Everything $6,83/$30,41 $1,7
Nevesta $5,86/$26,06 $1,5
Churchill $3,44/$3,44 $190K

I've said before; safest stakes for #1 of the year are DM3 and FOTF. But since Spidey is a well-known character just like Batman (and now Wonder Woman) and with zero sign of fatigue of CBM, SM:HC and JL also can compete for the top spot.

According to Universal, DM3 is up to $16.7M by Tuesday! That's a great 300M in 6 days. It better takes as much as money as possible before the Araña arrives.

http://pro.boxoffice.com/despicable-3-finishes-holiday-weekend-241-4m-global-haul/

So about 340-350 by thursday. Minions had a 58% drop, but that time competition was Ant-Man, this time with Spidey the drop can be as high as 65-70%.

It should reach 400M lc by Sunday even with a 70% drop. Spidey and Gru will be virtually on every single available screen, Diana and McQueen are going to suffer.

Just checked Cinepolis Perisur and there's 51 shows for HM today: subtitled, dubbed, VIP, IMAX and 4DX!

The good thing for WW is that its run is almost over, but Cars 3 will barely pass Cars 2.

And i finally got to confirm some release dates for the last summer films:

- The Emoji Movie: August 4

- Baby Driver: August 11

- Anabelle: Creation: August 17

- The Dark Tower: August 25

But also Disney is having a special re-release of their princess classics, starts next weekend and finishes in october. Also, Cinepolis also will have a limited re-release of most of Stanley Kubrick's movies, from 2001 to Eyes Wide Shut, all of them during August.

I think HC will easlly sneak into the all-time Top 10 SuperHero OW (lc). I may even go Top 5.

Reaching IM3's levels would be great. Unfortunately the numbers in $ would be lower because of the exchange rates...
