Hopefully this benefits Crawl and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Ready to follow the trend and change the thread's title to: "Fall of records" through September and October?

Purple Minion
Hobbs & Shaw reached 200M lc. Toy Story 4 has now sold 25.1M tickets, and The Lion King is 78M lc away from the billion mark. Running in the middle of Fallout and Meg; seems to end in between $360M and $380M. 2 hours ago, Purple Minion said: The Lion King is 78M lc away from the billion mark. Billion mark still looking good but it's going to be just over it. $1B-$1.02B Although in good news now all Top 5: lc, USD and admissions are entirely Disney. TLK passed Minions as No. 5 in admissions yesterday. SLOP2 aims $90M-$100M and Crawl sees high 10s-low 20s Edited August 9, 2019 by Carlangonz
Purple Minion
SLOP opened to 141M lc for a great 421,6M total. Animated sequels usually increase, but this may become a glaring exception. How's the buzz?
Purple Minion
Mmmm. Potential sub-100M lc OW for SLOP2, estimates come at $5.1M. That's a 30% drop from the first one. H&S close to 250M lc, $13.0M. TLK inching closer and closer to the billion mark, estimates put it at 950M lc, $49.0M. Carlangonz
Unless Jumanji 2 or something totally unexpected pulls an upset 8 out of the 10 highest grossing titles of the year are going to be produced by Disney, 9 of them produced or co-produced. I'm currently expecting: 1/ Avengers: Endgame 2/ Toy Story 4 3/ The Lion King 4/ Captain Marvel 5/ Aladdin 6/ Spider-Man: Far From Home 7/ It: Chapter II 8/ Maleficent 2 9/ Frozen 2 10/ Dumbo 1
Carlangonz
Screendaily reports 59% drop for Hobbs and Shaw. Total gross just over $250M. It isn't good at all. They also report $1.4M for Crawl which translates into a solid overperformance of $27M lc. This puts a better scenario for both Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. August should be good for these small overperformers and slepper hits.

It isn't good at all. There go my hopes for another 600M+ lc this year. Really hope Pennywise and Maléfica can make it. From a mere statistical point of view, if TLK doesn't reach the billion, we'd have movies in every hundred million range 🥳
Purple Minion
As suspected, SLOP2 opened to less than 100M lc - 96.2M to be exact. It doesn't have much competition so it should read 275M. That'd still be a harsh drop from the first one. Looks like The Lion King had softer Sunday, total is 941M lc.
Carlangonz
AUGUST 9TH-11TH WEEKEND. SECRET LIFE OF PETS 2 OPENS BELOW PREDECESSOR. HOBBS AND SHAW DO MEH AND CRAWL SURPRISES. The Secret Life of Pets 2 - 32.4% below first Pets, 12.15% under Dr Seuss’ The Grinch and 33.2% above Sing. With holidays still going on should come close to $300M which represents a 30% decline over first installment of the franchise. Hobbs & Shaw - Already surpassed Fallout’s lifetime gross but is running 1.24% below The Meg at the same point of release and gap is going to increase over the next week. Final range is decreasing to $330M-$350M which would be a drop of nearly 50% from Fate of the Furious. The Lion King - $1B is going to be a photo-finish. Drops have been a bit worse than expected. In admissions is pointing to finish in between 18.3M-18.6M. Crawl - Above this year’s The Quake and last year’s Hurricane Heist. Also above horror titles from this year like Child’s Play and double of Us. # MOVIE WEEKEND % CHANGE TOTAL (MXN) TOTAL (USD) ADM.
