Carlangonz
At the end, Garfield isn't opening on May 2nd nor 1st but April 30th to take advantage of Children's Day. Too late to properly take data but sales for it are looking extremely well. Of course Tue and Wed will inflate the overall number but $170M+ ($10M USD) across the 6-Day is within reach. It will continue the hot streak for animation after Kung Fu Panda 4 and before summer behemoths Inside Out 2 and Despicable Me 4.
Purple Minion
Another 400M lc movie would be great. Hard to make comparisons due to the market evolution, but let's say the latest Garfield should sell more tickets than both previous movies combined. Purple Minion
Deadline: "As of Wed, KFP4 is at $35.6M." Most probably crossed 600M lc, depending on the ER fluctuations.

Purple Minion
$8.4M long-OW for Garfield, about 142M lc. Fall Guy opened to a decent $2.5M. 1
Purple Minion
Deadline: The Fall Guy opened to $2.5M at No. 2 across 1,607 screens. It performed best in high-attendance and middle-to-high income theaters from main and second tier cities, with strong indexing from VIP sites at 18.1% of admissions. Other totals: KFP4 $35.8M, Kongzilla $33.2M, Challengers $1.6M.
Carlangonz
APRIL 30 - MAY 5 WEEKEND. 1. Garfield: The Movie - $72.9M/$140.8M 2. The Fall Guy - $21.6M/$41.2M 3. Jugaremos en el Bosque - $12.5M/$16.5M 4. Challengers - $9M/$28M (-23.73%) 5. Godzilla x Kong - $7.9M/$555M (-57.75%) 6. The Phantom Menace (Re-issue) - $2M/$5.2M 7. Kung Fu Panda 4 - $4.7M/$603.3M (-62.4%) 8. Civil War - $3.9M/$45.7M (-61.39%) 9. Spy x Family - $3.3M/$23.6M (-78%) 10. The First Omen - $2.4M/$94.9M (-68.83%) Solid opening for Garfield; a bit below initial forecast with a depressed Thu/Fri following a massive Tue/Wed combo. It should ensure good numbers for Sony as it won't get any competition other than If until Inside Out 2 arrives on mid-June. With a warming reception it should go for $300M. The Fall Guy lets down a bit despite great projection from its release date. Adding Tuesday previews and early access numbers makes up for the overall result but $100M and topping The Lost City and Anyone but You isn't a safe path. Jugaremos en el Bosque was the least front-loaded out of all newcomers and opened on par with last year's horror hit Huesera which legged up to $50M. That one had a stronger buzz so Bosque won't have the same luck but should ensure decent numbers nevertheless. Holdovers were very affected by the holiday on Wednesday but despite it, Challengers had a great second weekend and will cross $2M USD soon and still could climb to $50M but screen retention on mid tier cities may be an issue. Kung Fu Panda 4 has finally crossed $600M with some millions left in the tank yet. All Inside Out 2, Despicable Me 4, Deadpool & Wolverine and Joker: Folie à Deux are the best bets to surpass it but, could keep No. 5 of the year or something else will top it?

The Cámara Nacional de la Industria Cinematográfica reported today the same figure as you (140.8 million) however in the cume it’s 149.1 million, so certainly there was earlier screenings. Probably the same thing as in the UK: there will be earlier shows on 18th and 19th, plus on Sunday (12) there’ll be more previews before the official release on May 23. The Fall Guy is up a little bit more, probably due some additional earlier previews as well, its cume is at 45.5 million.
Purple Minion
CANACINE sometimes includes Monday's figures in their weekly report, published on Tuesdays. Odd. Before the pandemic, weekend figures were released on Mondays at around 2 pm GMT.
