Purple Minion
Data up to Thursday. FF8 slowed down a lot but it's still going to crash in the All Time Top 10 in lc and admissions. Baby Boss is definitely a great surprise, spending 4 weeks in the Top 2 and getting that close to 400M lc for an original animation is quite an accomplishment. Only IO and SLOP have crossed that lc threshold. No news from GotG2 have been released, Disney is keeping it under wraps! Purple Minion
Exhibitor Relations posted a $7M OW for GoTG2. That'd be less than 140M lc, lower than I estimated. Hope it shows legs or may not earn much more than the 1st one.

The last Derbez movie ; Instructions not Included was a massive hit with +600 M, so this time may hurt the Guardians Edited April 30, 2017 by Carlangonz
Purple Minion
That Derbez movie did great in the US, $12M OW! So should be huge in Mexico, I think no local movie has opened with 100M lc, could he do it? Deadline now reports that GoTG2 opened to $7.6M (144M lc), slightly better. Carlangonz
I doubt it opens with 100 M, still should make a good OW cause is a perfect season for local movies because Puebla's Battle Day and Mother's Day that attract entire families to theatres to see local (or with local stars like this particular one that counts with Derbez and Salma Hayek) or animated movies. Also, HTBALL domestic actuals should be over 12 M, 83% of audience is Hispanic and their attendance increases progressively Fri-Sat-Sun Edited April 30, 2017 by Carlangonz
Purple Minion
Wow, just checked and Derbez' NSAD did 232,293,331 lc on its first week! We may be up for a surprise!
Purple Minion
FF8 held relatively well the Guardian invasion, as per Screendaily total now up to $33.4m, around 630M lc. Depending on how those numbers hold, could be fighting the #8 all time position with BvS.
Carlangonz
MEXICAN BOX OFFICE. APRIL 28TH - 30TH WEEKEND. GUARDIANS OPEN BIG AS FATE OF THE FURIOUS HOLDS This weekend was a hard one for exhibitors, with two holidays to celebrate was a perfect ocassion for go to movies. This past friday opened the last Marvel Studios film; Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 in around 3,600 locations and going over estimates making $154 M lc, which is 73% over the opening of first Guardians ($88.6 M lc). In dollars we're talking about $8.1 MD. It's uncertain if will keep the legs of the original (x 2.9). WoM is good but not great, still... if it has a similar performance like mostly of the MCU films should pass $420 M lc with no problem, unless gives us a surprise and be similar to 'Civil War' last year and makes half of their total in their first weekend, but that's not much likely. Next weekend Star Lord and Co. faces competence from a monster named Eugenio Derbez with '¿Cómo ser un Latin Lover?' (How to be a Latin Lover?), Eugenio already broke records in September 2013 with 'No se Aceptan Devoluciones' (Instructions not Included) including best OW for a local film ($148.48 M lc) and the biggest local film of all time ($600.2 M lc, $46.1 MD). This time nobody expects those records to be break, but there's a lot of expectations. Dropping one spot we have 'Fate of the Furious' which made $1.97 MD ($37.2 M lc) for a total of $33.16 MD ($625.4 M lc) installing the annual record, probably the definitive one at least that our friendly neighbour or a new group of heroes gives us the surprise. Holding in a terrific way; 'Baby Boss' barely dropped this weekend and got $1.06 MD ($20 M lc) for a cumulative of $21.84 MD ($412 M lc), meaning a huge success for DWA. 4. Going in Style. $424 K wknd/$1.72 M total 5. Don't Knock Twice. $360 K wknd/$360 K total 6. Smurfs: The Lost Village. $339 K wknd/$4.96 M total 7. Ozzy: Rápido y Peludo. $307 K wknd/$890 K total 8. The Autopsy of Jane Doe. $259 K wknd/$1.18 M total 9. The Shack. $233 K wknd/$2.16 M total 10. L'Odysée (French movie)* $116 K wknd/$116 K total *Limited release Edited May 1, 2017 by Carlangonz Grammar mistake
Purple Minion
With holiday Monday, GoTG2 could reach 200M lc by next Thu. Can't wait for the Star Lord vs Lonje Moco battle That's the 5th week in the Top 3 for Baby Boss, becoming the 33th movie to break the 400M lc barrier. Amazing.
Purple Minion
GotG2 had the 3rd biggest OW of the year, however not enough to enter the All Time Top 20 (very close!) Furious 8 strong with their annual record gets a cumulative of $649 M lc and the annual leader of animation; Boss Baby goes into their sixth weekend with a total of $423 M lc.
Purple Minion
Baby Boss run is so remarkable. It passed SLOP to become the 2nd highest original animation movie in lc, and with less tickets sold! Here's the full Top 10 table. Not sure which days is CANACINE reporting, but it's not the usual whole week. The 1st of May holiday was huge, and there was enough space for all 3 Furious Baby Guardians to thrive. Depends on how you count the ER: If it's the OW ER, then it hasn't, last record was $29,406,972 a month ago and it may have added another $250K or so since then. If it's the latest ER, then yes, it's comfortably over $30M.

Do you think it has enough to go over the mark with BOM's method of reporting?
