EXCLUSIVE: France-based distribution outfit The Coven is launching world sales on threequel Terrifier 3, following the breakout box office success of Terrifier 2.

Writer-director Damien Leone and producer Phil Falcone will return to oversee the continuation of the franchise.

Plot is being kept under wraps but David Howard Thornton (who plays Art The Clown) and Lauren LaVera (Sienna) are among cast expected to return. The Coven will serve as exec producer and is already getting interest from buyers.

Filming is expected to get underway in November or December of this year for release in late 2024. The threequel is understood to be getting a budget in the low-mid seven figure range, a significant increase on that of the sequel.

“It achieved revenues of roughly 60 times the production cost and was powered almost exclusively by social marketing,” Cineverse chairman and CEO Chris McGurk said in a statement. “We are thrilled that Damien and Phil have chosen to stay true to the franchise and keep the film uncut and independent vs. going the studio route. We aim to make this film the centerpiece of our releasing strategy which is focused on creator-friendly collaboration to generate fan-favorite franchises and remakes that work theatrically and drive streaming subscription revenues. This time, we are planning a wide theatrical release for ‘Terrifier 3’ as we are confident that the film will deliver yet another unparalleled horror experience.

Yeh I can’t say that they’re “good” but the second was better than the first, although it was way too long.

Hoping this one goes to cinemas here for a change, as it would be fun to see with a crowd.

They are smart to go with limited showings again. Make it an event, make it a party. Better to be a big fish in a small pound, than die in a massive ocean.

Terrifier will never be mainstream, but it can continue to blow us all away with huge per theater average numbers and news about how many sellouts it keeps getting.
