Fullbuster
I think it's more a case of missing mega-blockbusters. You can't plan something like "Intouchables" or "Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis" - such things happen, and boom - you got a strong year because some breakout comedy gets 15 or 20 mil admissions. Why do people always try to find excuses when I say admissions in France decreased or will decrease because of the crisis? It's really irritating, can't you see the real world guys? The decline in admissions since 2011 has one main reason : the crisis, nothing more. When people's wallets are depressed they have other priorities, we've seen it in Spain, Greece and Portugal. Yep, this is the real world...I know, it's terrifying!

Unemployment in France is also less than half of Spain's. And? This rate passed from 7.2% in 2008 to 11% nowadays, it's a lot of new unemployed people. Excuses, excuses...The crisis is the reason, it's not a coincidence, like in Spain, Portugal and Greece..It's so obvious...

Fullbuster
Admissions this year will be about the same as 2008. July 2013 was the worst July since 2003. It must be great to be blind. So you don't think there's a crisis? You think people in France spend more money on theaters when they lose their jobs? So contrary to people in Spain or Greece they just don't care and use magic money? Wow, I wouldn't be surprise to hear "France is so unique and exceptional..They also have unicorns " Seriously.... You'll see weak Julys across all of Europe, just like you'll see strong Mays. There are reasons for fluctuations in attendance that have nothing to do with the economy. Strange, I don't see that here :(I probably need glasses There may well be a crisis, but I see no evidence of it in the box office. It's still pretty healthy right now, August is even looking up on last year.
Fullbuster
There may well be a crisis, but I see no evidence of it in the box office. It's still pretty healthy right now, August is even looking up on last year. Admissions decreased, it's the only evidence I need. In Spain, Portugal, Greece and Italy the BO decreased a lot, and we know the crisis is the only culprit. France is the same. Depressed wages, rising unemployment = Decline of the BO. It's still fine, but the drop in admissions started in 2012 when the crisis hit France pretty hard, it's obviously not a coincidence. But try to find ridiculous excuses, the real world is still the same
