IronJimbo & Sheldon's Son Posted August 17, 2023 Share Posted August 17, 2023 (edited) Oppenheimer's Friday CGV start is 38,000, this is 5.6% higher than Wednesday -> 155k finish (+31% Thu) I Missed Thursday's start, but I think it was around 30k so a ~30% jump seems doable, would be much better than War for the POTA (+13%) and on par with Logan (+32%). If it can have weekend jumps matching Logan then >1.8m OWeek is still on, though 2m is looking unlikely now. mr1006 Posted August 18, 2023 Share Posted August 18, 2023 (edited) Each of the big 4 local distributors released a tentpole this summer: Smugglers: Next Entertainment World (NEW) Ransomed: Showbox The Moon: CJ ENM Concrete Utopia: Lotte Entertainment Of these, only Smugglers has passed its breakeven point (4 million admissions) with 4.6 million so far. The Moon and Ransomed are not even close to passing their breakeven points of 6 million and 5 million, respectively. The Moon has 0.5 million admissions and Ransomed has 1.0 million admissions so far. Concrete Utopia currently has 2.3 million admissions so far and needs to reach 4.1 million admissions to break even. Korean distributors are still struggling post-COVID. IronJimbo & Sheldon's Son Posted August 19, 2023 Share Posted August 19, 2023 (edited) Much better walkup ratio today, 15:20 CGV is 127k which is 1.58x the start, this is the same increase that MI7 had on its first Saturday at 15:20 and that movie ended with 2.1x. For Oppy 2.1x the 80k CGV start would point to ~168k final. Since it's the weekend I'm hoping for a lower ratio which means 400k could be on the table which would be greater than a 150% jump from Friday. Edit: Oops I got my timezones wrong, that was the 16:20 CGV. MI7's 16:20 number was 1.67x the start so Oppy is a little behind that but could still try for 2x and high 300ks.
