Damn, people really seem to dislike this movie. I really liked it despite the script's stupidities and John Goodman.

The film was good dealing with the actual plane crash and such but after that it went down hill

I was thinking about this movie recently. I kinda went along with it once it was clear what the movie was really about, despite its generic plot and some silly moments, one of which that sticks out is the hospital scene with the other pilot and his wife and the wife says "Praise Jesus" on repeat. Did they need to make it religious there? Where it really falls apart for me is the adjacent hotel room being open for no other reason than a means to get him drunk for the hearing.
