The first couple of times I saw it, I wasn't enamored with it.  But over time, it has grown on me.  "SQUIRREL" is one of the great lines in film over the last decade, imo.

Damn, I had to use google to find this thread because it's nearly impossible to search for this movie using the site's search.

I'm rating this an "I dunno" out of 10.

It's been a bit too long since I've last seen this movie, but I distinctly remember not being impressed. I didn't like the trailer at all because I thought that Carl Fredrickson (voiced by Ed Asner) looked like a troll of some sort. Why is his head a cube?

Anyways, I saw that it had great reviews on rotten tomatoes, so I was prepared to be proven wrong. I went in not knowing of any specific praise for this movie.

The marriage montage did nothing for me. Absolutely nothing. Maybe it's because I was a teenager, and I didn't pick up on all of the implications of the scenes. Still, it's unashamedly sentimental, and I don't think I knew enough about the characters to take interest in these scenes.

I barely remember the harebrained plot that follows. How is that Muntz guy still alive?

Still, writing this review got me to look up Ed Asner, whom I thought was dead. Turns out, he's still alive! I guess I'm not that great of a judge of mortality after all.

P.S: I think I mixed him up with Mickey Rooney.

Man, I never reviewed this? Guess I just never got around to reposting my review after the forum switch

Anyway, I can't really argue with those who find the story too implausible/silly, but this movie is nothing less than a joy to watch regardless. The characters are all entertaining, the movie has a good sense of pace and the emotional moments hit as hard as they're intended to
