Another Asian territory surpassing TA.    I just can't imagine what TA2 will do? Probably 350-400M from Asia.  :bop:  :bop:

TA2 will be massive in Asia and Latin America. I think it could gross a combine total of 300M+ from Latin America

:) IM3 passes 100M hkd this weekend?

Yes, it will pass 100m HK and The Avengers this weekend.

Should pass it during this weekend.

TA hk$96.2M

IM3 hk$92.7M as of sunday

TA2

China 200M

SK 80M

Japan 50M

HK&TW 50M

others 100M+

You think HK & Taiwan can do 50m? That means Taiwan would have to do about 35m because I can't see it making 20m in HK. TA2 won't increase by much. It won't come close to Avatar.

May 16 Thursday Actuals

1. Star Trek Into Darkness - $154,562/$450,806 (opening day actual)
2. Iron Man 3 - $114,633 (-35%) [NO TOTAL GIVEN]
3. The Great Gatsby - $77,281 (opening day actual)
4. Pee Mak Phra Khanong - $30,912/$50,232 (opening day actual)
5. The Call - $21,896 (+6%)/$246,011
6. The Berlin File - $11,076 (opening day actual)
7. The Big Wedding - $6,311 (-39%)/$305,260

A Chorus of Angels - $1,932 (opening day actual)
Thérèse Desqueyroux - $1,803 (opening day actual)
Documentary Of AKB48: No Flower Without Rain - $1,545 (opening day actual)

Other totals
Trance - $449,518

I really don't like that Thursday actual for Star Trek 2 but then again, it is doing way better than Star Trek. Iron Man 3 is holding on pretty tight. About what I expected for The Great Gatsby. People were expecting this to challenge Star Trek 2? I think they got caught up in the buzz. Good for Pee Mak Phra Khanong. Another hit for a Thai horror. Awesome for The Call. It's going to increase this weekend.

Outstanding for Iron Man 3. It passed The Avengers today. Can it make another 1m this weekend? Quite good for Star Trek 2. Obviously it won't sniff the outskirts of my most recent prediction but it should be around 1.225m (including sneaks). That would be 95.5% of Star Trek 2's total and an increase of 170% of Star Trek's OW. It has Iron Man 3 levels of WOM so far. The Great Gatsby benefited from the holiday with the long duration. Amazing for The Call. Great for Pee Mak Phra Khanong.

I dun know too, our official calender shows that Wesak Day is on 24th of May. Many films open that week.

IM3 has won TF3 to become the highest grossing film ever in Malaysia. Awesome.

Where's TA on the top grossing movies in Malaysia?

Wow, lots of Jackie Chan and Stephen Chow's movies in the top 25. No surprise though. But I heard somewhere that Jackie Chan is not that well-liked over there in HK? Guess it was just rumors.

And yay for A Better Tomorrow. Great movie

As for this week, Trek is doing good while IM3 has a great hold  B)

Thanks for the report Bluebomb  :)

No, it's true about Jackie Chan. I even commented about it in one of my prediction articles. Those high grossing movies of his came out before he made those controversial comments.

Bluebomb, where do you see IM3 finishing?

Around 14m. It should suffer with Fast 6 coming out next week and no holiday to boost drop. Possible 70% nosedive next week.

Top 7 Opening Days

1. Spider-Man 3 - $958,984

2. Pirates of the Caribbean 3 - $869,176; $6.8m HK

Pretty good for Iron Man 3. Star Trek 2 remains strong. The Great Gatsby fell due to the long duration and the weaker night shows on Sunday. Huge jump for Pee Mak Phra Khanong. The Call is excelling.

Star Trek 2 is starting to rebuild that separation it had from Iron Man 3 last Thursday. Strong hold from Sunday. It will need to continue holding like this if it wants to make 2.5m. Not bad for Iron Man 3. The holidays are gone but it continues to be a viable choice for moviegoers. Outstanding for Pee Mak Phra Khanong. It is the only film in the top 10 to make more today than last Thursday. The Great Gatsby also had a good hold. While it could have held better because of the demographic, the long runtime will push people away from seeing it on weekdays. Great daily hold for The Call.
