Fassbender alone made it awesome. The scene in the argentina bar was the best and I wish entire movie focused on fass hunting down the nazis. Mcavoy was good(he is lot better in DOFP) and bacon was competent. Rest of the cast including JLaw were mediocre. Overall A and on par with DOFP and X2.

I wish they had made origins movie with just Fass. Now he will do Apocalypse and then exit from this series for sure.

Really good film, but a bit overrated IMO. Fassbender is great and the other actors also mostly did a good job. Didn't need the young mutants at all and some of the dialogue was a bit cheesy. Overall, pretty solid effort, but nowhere near DOFP and X2.

Grade: B or 7.75/10

I just watched the 1-hour making-of, and damnn, it's a little miracle that this movie happened under such tight schedule. Matthew Vaughn had only 10 months to rewrite the script, it was supposed to be a twilight high school version of the X-Man; to cast the actors, he even had to fight with the Fox executives to cast Fassbender, the executives thought Fass was too old for the part; to build the complicated and sophisticated sets, to film and to do the whole post production. And to everyone's surprise, the film ended up being really good.

X-Men: First Class is a fairly enjoyable film that makes the most out of it's small budget. Unfortunately, the poor effects often intrude on the decent story. The action is serviceable, and the film seems afraid to stick with flourishes that are its best elements. This is the first X-Men movie that truly feels like a team, but unfortunately, this comes at a loss of strong character arcs. McAvoy and Fassbender are both magnificent, and the rest of the casts is fairly strong, although Rose Byrne is completely wasted. The historical pulpy plotline is fun, but at several points may cause eye-rolls. Overall though, X-Men: First Class works thanks to its stellar cast and in spite of its other flaws. B-
