I just saw a tweet that was like, "Film Twitter is a million 'Scorsese good! Scorsese bad!' debates while Book Twitter is like, 'The author of the summer's most popular book is a murderer!'" Of course I had to look it up.

Between doing a song for this and that David O Russell movie, it seems the Swifties are very disappointed in her...

Naturally, Delia Owens goes on to write a novel involving a murder, where there are racially problematic elements... The ad campaign for the movie has seemed a bit off to me, it's starting to make sense now.

I don't really think the book is racially problematic. At worst you can say that the 2 black characters in the book are like the "magical negro" trope but that's a reach.

Also the murder in the book has nothing to do with the environment or poaching or anything.

There is a new trend. Movie versions of Broadway versions of movies lol.

Netflix is releasing Matilda the musical this christmas. And The Colour purple, Mean Girls and Sunset boulevards are in production.

They all really seem terribile ideas

hairspray was amazing though. Better than the OG movie and the broadway musical imo

Eddie Redmayne won the Oscar when he was like 32. Adrien Brody was even younger. Malek was 37 when he won. Same for Jamie Foxx. Butler will be 31 by time of Oscar. If anything, his age would only become part of the narrative and reason to vote for him. Fact that this young nobody pulled off an Elvis performance so young is his campaign.

LOL I would actually love to debate this but I  not going to clog up the weekend thread😅 Agree to disagree?

I'm not comparing anything and no I don't. I'm just saying that box office doesn't matter either for the actor category.

aah okay lol. I agree box office doesn't necessarily matter. I think the early release date/Austin being a young actor will hurt it more than "average" box-office. I just thought the "comparison" was funny though lol.

Ok then, King Richard bombed at the box office and Will Smith still won. None of the Best Actors contenders will make much money unless they really nominate Cruise or people are hyped for Brendan Fraser comeback and the new Aronofsky performs like Black Swan.

Comparing Will Smith to Austin Butler is a choice lmao.

Y'all really think Austin could win???? Like seriously???

Do you have a crystal ball?

Yes I do. And it told me Austin ain't winning lmao.

But seriously an actor playing a character in a A Baz Luhrman movie released in June  played by young actor who is not very well known had a very low chance of winning. Again a nomination is likely imo.

tom holland not only had a full trilogy but his character literally died and came back to life in that time lol. if that doesn't show the difference in corporate franchise management.

DC also seems to struggle with casting and PR. They've had issues with multiple actors now. (ranging from small to big). Obviously not all are predictable but it’s interesting. Meanwhile someone like Tom Holland has like human golden retriever reputation without so much as a scandal. And it's absolutely wild that WB has not made a single statement since the issues with Ezra started.

It’s a shame because Ezra is a good actor and their casting was supposed to be a win for queer representation. At this point, I'm just hoping that everyone comes out of this completely unhurt and any of Ezra's possible victims can get help and that Ezra receives appropriate consequences.

damn this makes me feel old now. and their only appearance so far has been JL and ZSJL....... insane.

they had 10 second cameos in Batman vs Superman and Suicide Squad. 😅 But...yeah lol.

Speaking of Grant Gustin, I remember back when Ezra Miller was first announced as the Flash back in 2014, and a number of people, including at least one comic book writer (I don’t remember who it was) were saying how stupid it was for WB to announce a different actor as the Flash immediately after the character had a successful TV debut. Back then, I thought those people were just being sourpusses, but damn, if only we knew then what we know now.

it just astounds me that Ezra was first cast EIGHT years ago for this role. NINE seasons of the Flash tv show has happened in that period with no Flash movie.  They were cast a year before Tom Holland was cast as Spider-man.  Tom has had his whole trilogy released in that period before even one Flash movie came out.

Obviously Ezra's current behavior wasn't predictable all the way back in 2014 but I feel that just highlight how troubled the production of this film has been. Like this film must be cursed or something.

  10. I don't know if I'm being overly paranoid but I'm just super concerned something really really bad is going to happen. They have a gun and they seem to have some form of mania and delusions of grandeur

Maybe I just watch too much True Crime.

  11. Really becoming convinced in my "Ezra is a white non-binary R-Kelly" notion. There's an interview from years ago where they talk about having a "group of sexual partners." Nothing wrong with that but they seem to prey after young  biological females in the LGBT community.

my bold prediction is that this gonna do bonkers

ezra is not superstar people overestimate ezra's impact

Maybe we should wait on the "this movie will still do bonkers, no one in real life cares about this" discussion  until they are both found safely.

you have to admit it strange though with Miller it is one thing after another (I’m sure people wouldn’t be quick to believe this story of this has been his first offense) and that Miller and his people have yet to release any sort of statement vehemently denying any of this

I don't think Miller is in contact with their people. I'm beginning to think they don't even have people.

  14. I know the girl is 18 and apparently says she's fine with Ezra. but they're really both missing? This is getting ridiculous. Once they find them, WB or SOMEONE really needs to get in control of the situation with Ezra.

I know studios aren't supposed to be babysitters, but I assume the film is at least 150 million? If the film gets shelved because the star continues to be a complete shithead that's a ton of money to throwaway.
