This movie sounds more formulaic than a superhero film to me. All the ingredients I see in the trailer, I ve seen it all in other movies.

Some really bad shit went down behind the scenes, there s no other way : Some personal hate between Trank and people involved in the movie, Trank rumored meltdowns are probably true too, there s a reason Disney panicked and fired him from the Star Wars gig. It s incredible that Fox & Kinberg decided to scrap half of the movie this late into production & shoot a last minute, terrible 3rd act that will live in infamy. It s like the movie was sabotaged on purpose, it s quite incredible if you think about it.

That s why I said Fant4stic was the movie event of summer 2015 and I stand by it : Between the reviews, all the scores on various movie sites, the bo performance, the post production clusterfuck ( reshoots were still happening in July !), Trank committing career suicide live on Twitter, Kinberg trying to damage control this mess the day before release in an hilarious interview in EW ( "I am proud of the movie ! It s not a mess, I promise !"), Fox asking its audience what to do with the franchise, I mean this movie keeps on giving. Jurassic World got nothing on this.

Yeah, I was just checking this. Fant4stic & Catwoman have a lot in common : Terrible reviews, tepid bo, big budget, known brand. There are the two biggest superhero tentpole flops ever, with maybe Superman IV back in the late 80's.

Heath Ledger was a weak Joker. Bad make up, bad lines, weak actor, not charismatic enough to pull it off.

Woody Allen should put some death metal in the soundtrack of one his movies. Every time I see an Allen movie, I cringe the moment I hear this always the same nice-happy jazz music ... yuck.

Marvel & Feige only meddle when they see something the score cards don't like. Whedon was very enthusiastic about how the making of the first Avengers went. No studio interference whatsoever. That s the reason he signed on Avengers 2 which took 3 years of his life. Ultron had bad score cards on some scenes (the whole dance between the cave Thor scenes & Hawkeye country family scenes among others) hence Feige & Whedon disagreeing. Marvel meddled with The Incredible Hulk, Thor 2 & Avengers 2 (strong disagreements on the final cut of the film, nothing more really). Ant Man is a special case because Wright got out of the movie just before it started shooting. Marvel meddled on two occasions out of 12 films : Thor 2 & The Incredible Hulk. They avoided the need to meddle in Ant Man. One big argument in the editing room between Whedon & Feige : Ultron. But yeah, Marvel is evil, they meddle and ballgag their directors.
