Well done Eric and the other contributors. This was enjoyable.

I don’t think inflation has affected movie ticket prices too much right? This is likely a legit $250m+ OW.

Bow down to king Sony. Morbius coming to dominate the BO next
Shared win at best with Disney being the creative force. Sony has Venom though.

Colossal recency bias.
Return of the King, Jurassic Park, the first Harry Potter and Lion King easily get onto this list. And that's just 90s onwards and thinking of only pre-release hype.
And sorry to say this guys but the hype for NWH is much higher in North America than elsewhere. Most of us have Omicron dominating the news and here in the UK the hype for NWH is big, but not as big as for NTTD from literally two months ago.
Good points. Will be interesting to see how this does WW, and perhaps domestically in coming weeks, as panic induced shutdowns take effect.

Reminds me of the earthquake that was Spiderman 1s opening weekend in 2002.

Is this real life, or a twilight zone? Gangs of New York and Cape Fear not making the top 15??

LOL :-D
So many memes!
When do we expect the first trailer? Superbowl?

This was the best Star Wars movie since Return of the Jedi. 😄
I've seen it 6x already. Chalamet was amazing.

This is the first MCU movie I've actively avoided and have no desire to see it. Perhaps one day on streaming....
Liked Chloe Zhao's previous film though and I'm glad for future MCU properties' sake that it's making money.

When do you expect the first teaser/trailer? Superbowl? Easter?

That one is too specific

I'd love to see a redo of The Dark Tower with true-to-the-book casting, a director/writer who cares, and the budget it deserves. The Stand and The Dark Tower are at the top of my list of favorite books of all time (I thought The Stand series from earlier this year was decent).

Rage could be interesting but a school-shooting film is probably not the most ideal production nowadays.
I’ve never read that one. Will have to check it out.

I will have seen Dune 6x by the end of the weekend. It’s near perfect. Mad Max, LOTR franchise and now Dune. That’s my list of films this century that are eminently rewatchable. Small list.

Meh reviews. This will be the first MCU film I’ll avoid in the theaters looks like. :-( Hopefully Jon Watts / Spidey 3 gets the property back on track.

Recommendation: Create a contest featuring films from AAA level Directors with far smaller filmographies (Nolan, Villeneuve, Tarantino). Consolidate them into one list/contest.

This was great
it really was. Kept me engaged. The lead actors kept me glued to the screen. Very satisfactory ending as well. Ridley Scott nails it yet again.- 1

Reminds me of Coco. Could be a damper on box-office prospects given the lack of novelty.

One of the greatest films of all time. Dune fires on all cylinders: Acting, cinematography, costumes, direction, soundtrack.
The one minus is that the Zimmer score seemed overbearing at times. The film does run long even though it’s enjoyable.
A+

I love this film. So much. It isn’t a movie. This is a film, the subject of cinema classes for decades to come. Dune is LOTR level good. I have seen it 3x in theaters and will probably double the number of viewings by next week.

I really hope this is it for Holland. I don't want him sullied by any Sony projects. He should go out on top. He's up there with Tobey as the best to ever done the outfit.
