  1. Yikes for Carrie add to that the B- cinemascore then the movie's box office prospect is bleak Yay Gravity! And good numbers for Captain Phillips as well
  2. Go Gravity and Captain Philiips! Carrie is doing alright!

  4. I think we still should not count out Monsters University but The WInd Rises is also my frontrunner unless Frozen surprises bigtime in reviews and perhaps box office
  5. If motion capture performances can't be nominated then VO performance is definitely more unlikely.
  6. Just saw it a while ago and what a riveting film! The last 20 minutes or so was indeed intense! Great performances from Hanks and the pirates! And yes you know how a good a movie is that it could still get you at the edge of your seat despite knowing the outcome already. I give it an A! On another note, my friend was weirdly fascinated with Hanks' nipples in one of the final scenes, I didn't notice but after the movie it was the first thing she mentioned lol
  7. Just saw Captain Phillips and what a riveting movie! I'm really glad the moviegoing public supported this as well.
  8. Compared to Glitter, of course it didn't but I guess we can just call it a disappointment.
  9. Amazing Gravity hold! And Captain Philipps performance is nothing to be ashamed of either! Saw the movie this week and I was pretty disappointed. Not as funny as the first one and the story is really weak. It will still get solid box office because of no competition though
  10. Our company was a partner when she had a concert here so I saw her perform live and she can really sing well to my surprise.
  11. Carrie will likely get poor reviews because the original is such a classic so it will be unavoidable to compare it.I have a feeling that is really a scene-per-scene remake of close to it with very little variation
  12. Not a fan of Suit and Tie, but Mirrors is one of my favorite songs this year Yeah no word yet, maybe screenings next week?
  13. I agree Miley is actually talented, she can sing well live and she was good in SNL last week. I actually like Wrecking Ball, quite an emotional song but it's just hard to root for her with all her gimmicks. Sinead's open letter to her was actually for me sincere but then she took the opportunity to stir trouble and create more attention for her.
  14. Yeah Whitney Houston too. I didnt mention Cher and company because they are from a different time and I didn't experience their dominance so hard for me to comment on that. But today it's really quite hard to achieve that. I think Justin Timberlake may be the closest for that but then he gets duds like Runner Runner. I think JT suits better with light roles like Friends with Benefits or funny stuff since he's so good in SNL but with serious roles he ain't cutting it. He was fine in The Social Network but the awards buzz his publicity team tried to create was hilarious for me
  15. I'm glad Tom Hanks is 'back' , still my favorite Hollywood actor after all these years To be fair to him during the time he was not having box office hits, he was busy producing stuff on TV and was part of some good projects so even though he was not churning out box office hits anymore, he was still respected and there was less vitriol thrown at him unlike what Johnny Depp is receiving these days with his recent expensive box office duds
  16. Oh yeah I forgot about the Selena biopic but still the success she had in the early 2000s in both music and movies is hard to achieve these days
  17. Justin Timberlake has the biggest selling album in the US this year and yet Runner Runner flopped. Britney Spears at her peak flopped with her movie debut. It's a hard feat even for the top pop stars to crossover successfully in the movies. Sure there are cases like J.Lo in the early 2000s but it does not happen that frequently
  18. Miley's sales for We Can't Stop and Wrecking Ball are strong and her latest album will open higher than her last album which also was an attempt to have a mature image. Also "twerk"found its way to pop culture. Hate her or love her this is her year. I don't know if she can have a movie career again though,
  19. Miley Cyrus has overtaken Lady GaGa this year in terms of media attention and chart success. Not a fan of her gimmicks but they sure made some noise with all of "I'm not Hanna Montana anymore" stuff she's pulling
  20. I still like BOM because they have Philippine Box Office, we don't have a site or group that tracks ófficial numbers here so BOM is our reliable source
